Would you believe I’m 5’0?

Was very lucky to celebrate my grandma’s 89th birthday last week 💋 Every girl dreams of turning 89 💅🏻 To many more matching bracelets, dinners, and coffees. Can’t wait to see what we do for the 90th.

Sometimes I think about how women carry their granddaughters while pregnant with their daughters (all the eggs a woman will ever have already exist in the womb). About a year ago I worked as a production assistant for local legend @jermwright recreating glass tile mosaics in cermaic for the city of Encinitas. This weekend I finally got to see the finished pieces in person installed on the 101 in Downtown! I feel very grateful to have been a small part of this amazing restoration initiative, I learned so much and am very excited to have worked on this historic project in my hometown. by @tackyicon

2024 was one of the most significant, transformative years of my life so far. I was single for the first time in over 12 years, my beloved cat died, the most significant male figure in my life passed away. I moved house and cities. I changed jobs and bought myself a new car. I started learning a 4th language. I visited 4 countries (two for the first time!). Overarchingly, I learned how to be vulnerable and accept help from the people who love me.

Anais Nin has a good quote “I was always ashamed to take. So I gave. It was not a virtue. It was a disguise.” I learned that people can only be there for you if you give them an opportunity to do so and strength can look like knowing when to be vulnerable and soft.

Thank you to Colleen for cooking for me and braiding my hair, to Josie and Ruby for the late night phone calls, to Clark for helping me move and for being my dance partner, to Jesse for reading my mind and letting me borrow your books and making me walk on the inside of the sidewalk even when you think I dont notice, to Photina for being my spiritual/kibbe body type advisor, to Thais for making me laugh always, to Katie for changing my life and to Bridget for being a creative light and inspiration. I dont always know how to express it but I feel grateful every day to have a very romantic life - I am lucky beyond words for my many intimate friendships and for the ability to feel profound loss/grief because it is evidence of enduring love and profound care. Happy New Years by @tackyicon
