Just over a year ago we left Brendan at school for the first time to chase his dreams of becoming a pilot. He hit the ground running and hasn't stopped yet. In that span of one year he has achieved his private pilot license, he has gotten his instruments rating and today he has successfully achieved his Commercial Pilot license. All of this while maintaining a 4.0 and becoming a mentor for the incoming freshmen. To say we are proud is an understatement. We can't wait to see what comes next in his future. Happiest of Birthdays to the Birthday Duo!!! We were lucky enough to have Brendan home for a very short visit to celebrate (and he got to visit his friends). Brendan keep doing what makes you happy and make all of your dreams come true all while making us so proud of you. Denise thank you for being the best mother, wife, and best friend anyone could ask for. Most of all thanks for being my "Sugar Momma"!!! Our family is so lucky to have you both. Late post but on Monday night I had the privilege of honoring two of my greatest friends as they retire from NCPD as two of the best medics I have worked with. @exchief417 Rob Roper and Larry Loiselle (not on social media) taught me pretty much everything about what it took to do our job. Larry started off as a mentor to me when he was on 2363 covering my hometown and I was a newbie in the Westbury Fire Dept. He was definitely the guy to look up to. Then as luck would have it he was one of my first FTO’s teaching me the ins and out of the Ambulance Bureau. Then I was tossed into 2373 with Rob where we began our partnership and upper administration quickly regretted that move. We both moved around a bit but ended up partners for 20 years. Couldn’t ask for anyone better than to guide me through it all. Larry and Rob I wish you the best of retirement. It is very well deserved. 28 years ago we said “i do” 28 years later I would say the same thing over and over. Yes we have had many bumps along the road but with each bump we became stronger and learned more about the journey we are on. @deespear3 you have been nothing but an amazing wife and mother and truly the glue that keeps our family together. 2 beautiful kids that have each taught us separate lessons and have made of better versions of ourselves in their own way. Ally is ours forever and she lights up our lives with each waking moment . She battles everyday and yet still comes out smiling. Brendan (who have I mentioned is a pilot now) has taught us what a true gentleman is. A caring sibling, loyal son and great friend. He makes us proud with every accomplishment. So to say 28 years sounds so long it truly feels like a blink of an eye. Cheers to many many more. 🥂🥃 I love you!!! by @tacmedic73

In college years our kids experience so many "firsts". First time away for months, first time dorming, for some first time doing laundry all while handling the normal rigors of college life. Adjusting to new friends, campus life, meal plans.... Brendan is experiencing all of those but he is also experiencing first time flying planes. Starting at day 1 at Embry Riddle. This past week he got to experience his first time flying a plane SOLO. No instructors to guide him. From what other pilots told him(after a very stressful event) he killed it. Plenty of more firsts to come in his journey but this was the biggest one to date. Can't say how proud @deespear3 and I are to be part of this even though we are 1000 miles away. Way to go @brendanspear6 by @tacmedic73

After 30+ years this guy is hanging up his keys and radio today. I can't put into words what a great partner of 20 years @exchief417 Rob Roper was to me. Came out of the academy and was doubled with him for the first year of my career. He taught me things they don't teach in the academy. How to cut some corners to get to the exact same result only faster. Quickly grew into great friends. Some would say best friends. Always joking around until things got serious and then it was all business. On serious calls we didn't even have to talk. I knew his next steps as he knew mine. You can't find partners like that these days. It will be the NCPD Ambulance bureaus loss when he walks away today. Retirement is well deserved Rob. They always say the goal of parents is to see their children be more successful than they were. This weekend we dropped Brendan off at Embry Riddle to start his journey on doing just that. A lot of work ahead of him but there's no doubt he will come out on top. Can't wait to see what the next 4 years will bring. ~EAGLES RISE~
