Chamarra Arcadia, repelente al agua de @protacticsecurity ,en camuflaje Ghostex Kilo-1. Con cierres YKK.
El Kilo-1 es parte de la serie “Ghostex”, la cual fue una colaboración anunciada en Julio del 2010 por @hyperstealth_corp y @ads_inc en la “ADS Warrior Expo East”, donde se presentaron al menos 28 muestras diferentes de tela, que iban desde la línea Alpha hasta Hotel, por lo que, de la línea Kilo, solo se conoce el Kilo-1.
El sistema se llama GHOSTEX (GHOSTh TEXture, que significa Textura Fantasma) en honor al “Ejército Fantasma” de EUA durante la SGM (El 23.º Cuartel General de Tropas Especiales), estos se especializaban en Camuflaje, Ocultación y Engaño (CCD).
Ghostex originalmente se diseñó para ofrecer el mismo CCD a equipos especializados, dentro de las Fuerzas Armadas y el Gobierno Federal de EE. UU.

Ghostex originalmente contaba con cuatro niveles de patrones disponibles para agencias y grupos específicos, y aquí está lo que yo supongo que significaban estos “niveles”:

Rojo: Equipos de Agresores de EE. UU. (entrenamiento) - ¿Patrones de alta visibilidad?

Azul: Fuerzas del Orden y Seguridad Nacional de EE. UU. ¿Factores de intimidación y tonos en negro? Como el MC Black

Verde: Fuerzas Especiales de EE. UU.- ¿Baja visibilidad en ambientes específicos?

Negro: Operaciones Encubiertas - ¿Baja visibilidad en operaciones nocturnas e iluminación infrarroja y negabilidad?

Previo a la producción de equipo táctico para los cuerpos especiales de la SEDENA, el Ghostex Kilo-1 fue empleado únicamente por comandos de la Unidad Compañera Afgana (APU) del Comando de Operaciones Especiales del Ejército Nacional Afgano (ANASOC), y mujeres de élite del también extinto Pelotón Femenino Táctico (FTP), que se encontraban adjuntadas al Equipo de Apoyo Cultural (CST) del USSOCOM.
Específicamente, estos consistían de forro de casco, camisola, suéter térmico, y pantalones.
Toda la tela empleada en Afganistán era fabricada en los EUA y las pieza manufacturadas en Afganistán, este patrón estuvo en servicio desde el 2011/2012 al 2018, cuando se empezó a remplazar por una variante del M81, aunque algunas piezas aún se podían ver en uso hasta la caída de Kabul.

Multicam Vs. TAD Gear Multi-Environment Brown on the Texas winter prairie!
.
Another battle of universal (so to speak) camos / solid colours.
The camo pattern to rule them all versus a Brown colour meant to blend with them all.
.
Obviously, with such a steep task, neither will handle every terrain perfectly.
But they both might be most suited to the dry grass of the prairie.
Or at least more than most.
.
But that's just my own guess.
How do y'all think these are handling this winter prairie?
And is there a clear winner amongst these supposed jacks-of-all-terrains?

But for a generalist solid colour, ME Brown is pretty capable.

Coyote Brown Vs. TAD Gear Multi-Environment Brown on the Texas winter prairie.
.
Right off the bat let's launch the match for solid colour dominance right out here in the dry grass.
.
While the polypros are definitely on the dark side for Coyote Brown, the amount of extra Orange in ME Brown is way beyond even the USMC contract backpack here.
.
So with the semi-uniformity of the prairie grasses, so much of this issue comes down to colour matching.
Certainly more so than in less open areas.
.
So then the big question has to be, which colour is doing it for y'all the most?
I'll just await comments and see what y'all have to say.

New "Camo" of the Week: TAD Gear Multi-Environment Brown being tested on the SE Texas winter prairie!
.
So as y'all may have noticed, I tried to incorporate a good number of solid colours during the camo testing that I photographed in 2023.
.
One of those colours I was particularly curious about (because I own a good bit of it) was Triple Aught Design / TAD Gear's Multi-Environment Brown (or ME Brown for short).
Sold as a good solid colour choice for a wide range of terrains, ME Brown lies somewhere between Coyote Brown and Tan / Khaki in shading.
In fact, it's fairly close to the Flat Dark Earth (FDE) that has been all the rage for guns and other tactical gear.
.
It's also worth noting that all of these colour tones should be considered as a general range of tones and are not absolute.
Even the same manufacturer will have trouble matching colour tones across batches (look at the FN SCAR rifles for instance).
That case is demonstrated here with the different TAD Gear products I am wearing.
The Ranger Hoodie in PolarTec Fleece is noticeably more Orange in colour than the 100 percent cotton Force 10 cargo pants.
And both are much lighter in tone than the Hypalon rubber kneepads sewn into the pants.
Such is the nature of using different materials over different production runs.
.
Also, occasionally in this week's pics you'll see a boonie hat that's the same one I used for the Coyote Brown pics.
That hat was sold as Coyote Brown and I only ended up wearing it here as I forgot where my watch cap in ME Brown was back then.
Fortunately, the hood was up for most shots, so it matters little.
But the contrast is there for those curious as to the differences between the 2 colours.

Anyways, that's enough rambling from me.

BONUS: Multicam Vs. Pencott Greenzone Vs. M81 Woodland on night vision in a field test.
.
And as a final bonus post for the week, I've got the three benchmark camo patters all featured together in a night vision triptych.
.
I've started posting more triple comparisons mostly because they're useful to post something significant to some camo-centered Facebook groups without blitzing the groups with constant unending posts.
(Which I get the sense some moderators bristle at).
.
That said, I hope this format is useful to everyone, giving y'all a sense of what's really brightest or more contrasting of the three.
.
(For example, though M81 is pretty bright and lacks a pattern under NIR light;
Multicam is honestly even brighter and more glowy;
while Greenzone has glowy-ish sections but the great pattern retention makes that play to its advantage.)
.
Anyways, what are y'all noticing by having all three up next to each other in this context?

RAL 7013 Vs. Pencott Greenzone in a night vision "field test".
.
Gonna give more than equal opportunity to the "solid colours is all you need" crowd against this modern commercial benchmark camo.
.
This time we're putting it up against a military issue all the way "Green" (or Brown Gray, if you prefer).
Every clothing item in RAL 7013 you see here has been put through being held to military acceptance standards, nothing is commercial off the shelf.
And still you can see variance in NIR reflectivity between the items.
Certainly not as much between the Anzug 03 shirt and the Anzug 75 trousers, but the cap is a glowy gulf away from them.
.
But all in all, even if you certify the shirt and pants as NIR Compliant to military specifications (and to their credit they don't glow), they're far too too dark on NV up against leafy green foliage, jumping out against the background.
.
And being solid in comparison to Greenzone's high pattern retention, there's not enough light areas to counterbalance and disrupt an end user's black blob shape (which one might argue the commercial Ranger Green clothing shown earlier in the week might do somewhat.)
.
Anyways, food for thought.
I'll let y'all conclude and comment as you will from this point forth.

Multicam Vs. Pencott Greenzone in a night vision "field test".
.
One of the most ubiquitous modern camos versus one of the most highly reputable commercial übertarns.
.
The background settings are much more woodland oriented, so if anyone wishes to claim a bias then that would be it.
And honestly, neither one demonstrates an abysmal performance.
.
Multicam blends okay enough both with and without NIR light that it continues to mostly live up to its selling point.
Under NIR light it does get a little bright, which works semi-acceptably in amongst leaves and grass but starts to stand out against wood.
.
Greenzone again does even more remarkably well, with so much pattern retention and contrast in it's lights and darks under NV to really do a superb job in blurring shapes and blending more naturally.
So it seems here that the dedicated environment specific camo is in fact showing its merit on NV in comparison to the more muted, and less outstanding performance of its rival.
.
But that's just what I'm seeing.
How about y'all? What is y'all's thoughts on these two camos' performance.

Ranger Green Vs. Pencott Greenzone in a night vision "field test".

Since we're only so far along in this series, I will be comparing what we've already featured, which includes the solid colours already shown.
So we have another solid colour up against Greenzone, but I'd say the nature of comparison is quite different.
.
To be clear a lot of what we're seeing here is dependent on what products one is buying, and from what vendor, manufacturer, etc.
In Ranger Green both the Crye UBACS and UR-Tactical combat pants have different parts and pieces that colour match well in VIS, but contrast highly with the main fabric under NV.
This leads to something of a very large macro pattern under NV (if one wishes to be generous).
.
On Pencott Greenzone some of the specific clothing choices do have sections which don't retain pattern well on NV, but those are much, much smaller than the Ranger Green sections and harder to notice, especially at distance.
.
All in all though, Greenzone works much better than any solid colour to fool the eye into seeing something less distinct.
And while these specific Ranger Green garments may break up the shape at distance on NV a little bit, it's certainly not anything as deft as what we get with a properly retained camo pattern.
.
Anyways enough with my rambling.
Looking forward to others' take on this.
