TAEX is delighted to announce the opening of its first permanent gallery in Mareterra, Monaco 🌊

The opening marks a new chapter in TAEX’s development, establishing a permanent space for a programme that brings together internationally recognised artists whose practices engage with the defining questions of contemporary culture.

TAEX Gallery Monaco will open on October 9, 2026, with Testing Ground, a solo exhibition by Kevin Abosch @kevinabosch, on view through the end of November.

Testing Ground brings together previously unseen works from Abosch’s latest body of synthetic photography, created specifically for TAEX Gallery Monaco, alongside works from ETHICAL WORK, first presented by TAEX at Paris Photo in 2025, and the exceptionally rare Potato #345 (2010).

You are invited to the first exhibition at TAEX Monaco: Kevin Abosch’s @kevinabosch solo show, Testing Ground ⚡️

For more than three decades, Kevin Abosch has explored a deceptively simple question: what makes an image matter? His work examines ideas of identity, value and truth across photography, installation, moving image and generative technologies, which he has pioneered.

Rather than photographing landscapes that exist in the physical world, Abosch uses computational processes to create images that retain the visual language of photography while depicting places that cannot be located on a map. Familiar yet difficult to place, these landscapes invite us to question what we are seeing: a real image, a fictional one, or a space somewhere in between.

Unstill Life by Francesco D’Isa @disa_fran grows out of a meditative practice of letting the mind wander through small, often unnoticed details—a flicker of light, a distant sound, an object that briefly catches our attention.

Created through layered AI models, the work follows this shifting rhythm. Inspired by Zen philosophy, it explores the idea that seemingly insignificant moments may bring us closer to reality.

Unlike a traditional still life, where objects are frozen in time, here they never stay still. The work invites us to slow down, pay attention, and notice what usually passes unseen.

Explore on TAEX Artsy: Ice Caves by Snow Yunxue Fu @snowyunxuefu, curated by Dr Margarita Kuleva @ritakuleva.

Ice Caves presents five video artworks depicting a utopian civilization that develops within an ice cave.

For Fu, the cave is a cultural category rooted in personal experience. She grew up in Guizhou, a region known for its karst landscape, where local communities have long made their homes within caves — some still do today. Within Chinese culture, this relationship also finds expression in yáodòng — earth-sheltered dwellings traditionally built into hillsides across the Loess Plateau.

Fu recalls the cave as a paradoxical space: isolated from urban life, it can feel alienating and remote, yet also offer a peculiar sense of peace and reassurance.

Congratulations to Yichu Li @iliyichu, the winner of the Women in Art Prize 2026!

This year, TAEX Director Stefanie De Regel @stefarel joined the jury for the Digital Art Category of the Women in Art Prize 2026 @womeninartprize__. In a recent award ceremony, Yichu Li @i_liyichu was announced the winner of the Digital Art & Moving Image category.

Her project YICHU 1.0 is a three-chapter experimental moving image and performance work exploring protopian futures, digital embodiment, and AI-mediated identity. Set in a world where human consciousness transcends the limits of the physical body, the work examines how memory, identity, and emotion transform under algorithmic influence, blurring the boundaries between self and system, performer and machine.
