What one song would you choose to keep for the future? Why? And what would you say about it?

I was invited to write a response in verse as part of @inuaellams Rhythm and Poetry Party for this event inspired by the Letters to the Future Festival and @southbankcentre’s 75th anniversary.

The format is simple: ten writers each share a piece of work followed by two songs for the DJ to play.

An amazing event, held in collaboration with @05events and @outspokenldn . I was honoured to be alongside Anthony Anaxagorou, Ashley Hickson-Lovence, Che Lingo, Rachel Long, Caitlin O’Ryan, Joelle Taylor, Iman Amrani and Travis Alabanza.

After the poem the songs, my second by the extraordinary @natachaatlas

And what amazing interpreting by @pettra.bsl.interpreter.

These were my words. The poem called Feeling Future.

Video recorded by my dad. ❤️

Happy Independent Bookshop Week! It’s a good moment to let you know I’ll be reading at three wonderful indies in the coming months: @poetry_pharmacy_ with @r.l.drake, @ebb_bristol with @suzannahvevans, and @burleyfisher in conversation with Will Harris about my new pamphlet To an Unknown Receiver (@guillemotpress). Yay!

Between now and October I’ll also be visiting @arvon__, @oxfordpoetrylibrary and @winchesterpoetry‘s Poetry Day. I’m also thrilled to be part of a super-cool line-up of ESEA artists for a R.A.P. Party organised by @2ahuynhproduces and @meimeimac with @05events (full line-up to be revealed soon!)

Finally, I’m bringing back my online workshop on Shaping a Collection with @poetrybusiness if you fancy that in September.

But first off I’m looking forward to this Thursday’s free online launch for To an Unknown Receiver, featuring @jenniferleetsai and @imogen_wade_poetry.

Swipe right for the full listings! Tickets and more info are available via ericahesketh.co.uk/events and the organisers. Hopefully see you somewhere along the way.
