The day of the event finally dawned on us.The airfield (Venue of the event) had a notice board . It had our name in the first position for design report. That was the moment ,the exact moment when I realized that we were not returning empty handed. Our hard work paid off!
The feeling of seeing your plane fly is euphoric. During the whole cycle, from the plane being on the runway to taking off then landing, my heart was racing. But everytime the plane landed I heaved a sigh of relief. The time we went up to collect our medals with the Indian flag and other students applauding for us, I was full of pride. The best part was that there were only 4 of us in comparison to 15 in other teams 😂😂.
Over the past few years, I've seen this team achieve new height, grow in number, explore new domains. It's a bit tough handing over the reigns because with it comes leaving it. Although i know the family we have is so strong that we will last long. But the joy of working in the team is something I'll miss a lot.I have a lot of faith in them and know they'll bounce back from the Covid-19 setback. My message to the entire team is that enjoy what you do in the team, and then you'll feel that there is no pressure on you. Always respect your teammates, there is no "I" in team. Sacrifices made will certainly bear fruit. The end result is something you'll savour for the rest of your lives.
And a message for all, don't waste your free time, utilize it in any way possible. The internet has an ocean of opportunities waiting for people like you to explore, so don't just enjoy, put your time to use as well.

"Dude we made it!". This was my reaction when I realized that I was inducted into Phoenix. It was so overwhelming!
I was fond of watching a TV show "Air Crash Investigation" and it's exactly where my inquisitiveness for airplanes grew. Phoenix was my dream team for sure. It holds a special place for it has given me something I never expected. During my 1st year,I attended every meeting(even though I did not go to the fabrication room a lot XD)and I remember how Ayush and I used to discuss "lgta hai aaj toh nikal denge!😅".Thankfully ,we persevered on and made it to the end.
By second year, Phoenix became the priority but my studies took a hit.I've no complaints about it as I've gained a lot from other things. However, what should be understood is that time management is the key. Being in a team doesn't and shouldn't affect your academics.
I was made the captain in my third year. I can't be grateful enough to my seniors who trusted me in the first place. At first I was nervous but I knew captaining a team is like being the fevicol that keeps the team together and I was ready to prove my mettle in it. With a group of beyond spectacular team mates and an amazing bunch of juniors I was ready to face the challenges.
But what's a challenge without any hurdle. We examined the shortcoming of our senior's model for SAE West and improved on it.The biggest problem for us was undoubtedly designing the nose gear. Sudhanshu took up the responsibility and we did great. There were other problems along the way but I knew I couldn't be down. If they see that I've given up then it would be difficult. Also sometimes working under pressure causes people to burst, everyone had to understand that and move on without making a scene out of every little thing. So, in this way, we tackled each and every sort of hurdle together; as a team. There's no captain without my team.
