Last month, the brothers showed up and showed out. 💈✊🏽

Barbershop Talk brought together men from across Birmingham for real conversation about Legacy, Leadership, Mental Health, and Brotherhood. Panelists shared. Brothers listened. Connections were made. This is what community looks like.

Big thank you to 100 Black Men of Metro Birmingham and Birmingham Cares for making it happen.

Stay locked in for more upcoming events from Brother Let’s Talk!

🚨 Happening TOMORROW ‼️👏🏽‼️👏🏽‼️👏🏽‼️🚨

🎙️ PANELIST SPOTLIGHT: STEVEN GARRETT

What happens when a barber chair becomes a classroom, a church becomes a beacon of hope, and a father commits his life to serving others?

You get Pastor Steven Garrett.

For more than 20 years, Steven mentored young men while operating a barbershop at Tuskegee University, understanding that every conversation had the power to change a life. Today, he serves as Pastor of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Fatherhood Coordinator for the Gift of Life Foundation, founder of SKG Consulting, speaker, podcast host, and proud father of five.

Steven’s work centers on one mission: helping men lead with purpose, strengthen their families, and create lasting impact in their communities. Whether through faith, fatherhood, mentorship, or leadership development, he continues to inspire men to become the best version of themselves.

At the Men’s Mental Health & Wellness Summit, Presented by The Man Project all male mentoring program Pastor Steven Garrett will bring a powerful perspective on resilience, accountability, emotional wellness, and the importance of strong support systems for men and boys.

📊 Research shows that men who have strong social connections and positive support networks experience better mental health outcomes and lower rates of depression and isolation. Conversations matter. Community matters. Brotherhood matters.

Partnerships like this are how real change takes root. 🧡

Yesterday, Woodlawn United and the 100 Black Men of Metro Birmingham officially formalized a strategic partnership to expand opportunity, empower families, and drive lasting impact across Greater Birmingham. From mentorship and education to health, wellness, and economic empowerment, this collaboration will support housing efforts, youth programming, and other community development initiatives.

“When we invest in people and work together, real change happens,” — Mashonda Taylor, President & CEO of Woodlawn United.

Here’s to building stronger communities, together!

98% of the time no one is ever recording me. I was asked to do a fitness class with the 100 Black Men of Augusta for their mentees. They got to experience my leadership development style camp that I do by using fitness and it was really fun to do. They asked if I would come back and told me the men actually enjoyed watching the development that happened in all of an hour. I really appreciate the opportunity. Thanks Matt Chillz Fraser for the consideration of me and the footage, thanks 100 Black Men of Augusta for opportunity, thanks you mentees for trusting and allowing me to lead and pour into you and most of all I Thank God for allowing my gift to make room for me at tables of good and great people of the present and the future. #100blackmenofamerica #100blackmenofaugusta
