$Miami Air Rescue. Cable network sizzle reel. 2012. I was the front desk guy at Renegade 83 in LA — one of the bigger reality TV production companies at the time. That\’s where you start. I gravitated toward the development department immediately. Started reporting ideas to Melissa Morkus, the executive assistant. When they trusted me enough to bring me into the weekly pitch meetings with the actual executives, I started throwing ideas every single week. This one went the furthest. Cops in a helicopter. Not reality TV cops — serious, Michael Mann-toned, cinematic cops in a helicopter. They believed in it enough to let me shoot the sizzle reel myself, on location in Miami. I called up my old UM crew — same people who helped me make X&Y — and this was the result. It made it all the way to the network pitch stage. 435 views is the most-watched thing in this archive, which tracks — the concept was legitimately strong. This was the version of me that almost took a completely different path. Sometimes I think about that path.$
