The walk from Najaf to Karbala is one of the greatest analogies of life

On the night before we embark on the journey that begins in Najaf and ends Karbala, we are told to pack a small bag that will last us our three day journey. Prior to packing, I spoke to a good friend who had completed the walk the year before. She looked at me and told me to "walk free" and to leave the world behind. I was told to pack as light as possible and that this was a walk reflective of our journey to God and that not much was needed other than myself. And if, for some reason, some need did arise, she guaranteed that somehow, someone would be there to provide for it. (Initially, I had packed quite a few precautionary items in the forms of pain relief, band aids and the likes.) While I found the analogy beautiful, I also found it quite daunting : to take not much more than myself, the clothes on my back and trust that whatever I may require, would be provided for. Yet, I followed through on the instructions and tried to take the bare minimum. I found that even what I had considered the bare minimum was much more than I needed and the instructions could not have been more accurate. On the journey towards God, He will always provide for you

Having just watched “A Wrinkle in Time” and once again, there are so many layers to the remarkable movie. However, one of the points that really stood out for me was that of how blessed we are to share this journey of life with people who love us so unconditionally. To have friends and family to share both our greatest joys and maybe more importantly,our deepest difficulties with. To have those who when you’ve taken a blow and are on your knees, winded: will reach out their hand and lift you, those who will sit down right next to you and disinfect your wounds for you, those who will look you in the eye and reflect to you your own reflection of exactly who you can be. So so much gratitude for those people. My tribe •
