Willow Takes Us to Practice! 🏀🗽

Today, you guys get to meet some of our players!!

At Island Elite, we’re all about creating equal opportunities for kids in underserved communities.

We use basketball as an outlet to build meaningful relationships, develop athletic skills, and cultivate hope for the future.

We love our players, and there’s nothing more rewarding than watching them grow, both on and off the court, each week. 💙

We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us!

Gotta keep them on their toes! 🕺🏽

Decided to switch up our warm-up with a little challenge: Dance or push-ups? 👀

Safe to say, nobody was trying to do those push-ups!

Island Elite is based in Staten Island, where so much talent goes to waste simply because there aren’t enough opportunities. Many kids grow up believing that their dreams aren’t worth pursuing or that those opportunities just aren’t meant for them.

That’s where Island Elite comes in.

We want to reassure these kids that their dreams are worth chasing and give them the opportunity to chase even their wildest ones.

We’re calling on our community to help us build not only a basketball program, but these kids’ futures. Every donation, big or small, gives us the means to create opportunities and make a real difference in a kid’s life.

Believe in their future. Invest in their game.

We worked on the retreat dribble and finishing! 🏀

With the pace of today’s game, players need to know how to create space, change speeds, and attack with control. The retreat dribble gives you that space to reset, read the defense, and attack again.

Create space. Change pace. Finish strong. 🗽

This is more than a league.
This is belonging.
This is legacy.
This is basketball rooted in New York, reaching across borders - spanning the five boroughs to Germany and Portugal this year… plus Paris, Tokyo, Canada, Italy and Senegal in prior seasons.

Over a decade on the court - and we still got game… ✨

It was never just about basketball. 🏀

It’s the laughs before practice, the jokes in between, the friendships being built and watching a group of kids slowly become a team. 🗽

We want our players to work hard and get better, but we also want them to enjoy being here. To feel like they belong. To build relationships and memories they’ll carry way past the game.

That’s Island Elite.

We’re just getting started.

“I started Island Elite because I want to provide local youth with the same opportunities that helped shape me. My goal is create a positive environment where every child can learn the fundamentals of basketball while developing confidence, strong character, discipline, and lifelong friendships.

At Island Elite, we believe basketball is more than a game, it’s a platform to build better athletes, better teammates, and better people. “ - Coach Chayanne Kelly

Triple threat = 3 options: SHOOT , PASS, or DRIBBLE

Stay strong with the ball, protect it when you dribble, and make the right read. Simple habits that build smarter, stronger players.

That’s Island Elite basketball. 🗽🏀 #statenislandbasketball #statenislandny #islandelite🏀

STRONG BASE 🗽

Jab steps into strong finishes💪

Today we focused on the details that make a difference: staying low, keeping the ball protected, attacking with purpose, and finishing strong at the rim.

Being low gives you control. Protecting the ball keeps the defender from making a play. Then it’s one strong move and a strong finish.

Build the habits. Trust the fundamentals. Keep getting better.
