I am very excited to present a solo body of work @untitledartfairs Houston with the excellent Los Angeles based @1301pe gallery. 🤓⭐️

This body of work uses the varied colour profiles in the amateur everyday snapshots available online of the Rothko Chapel and the Rothko works in the Menil Collection as a starting point of reference. Having yet to make the pilgrimage to Houston myself this felt like an interesting way to imagine and explore it through the lens of other fans.
Thanks Brian for taking me! 🤩💫

SUPERFLEX — CRY ME A RIVER
18 September – 7 October 2026
Münsterhof, Zurich

SUPERFLEX imagines Cry Me A River as a dialogue between humans and Planet Earth. Against Earth’s four-billion-year lifespan, human existence is a blink of an eye.

The pop song Cry Me A River is stretched in time and transformed into a choral work. The original lyrics are replaced by phonetic sounds, turning the familiar song into a collective voice without words.

The choral work is played every evening at 7:12 pm, with a live performance by a local choir on 28 September.

In this imagined conversation, Earth tells humanity:

Cry me a river.

This Sunday, September 13, is the last day to see our exhibition “SUPERFLEX: Rainbows, Sponges, Flies, and Spoons” at the MAK Center at the Schindler House.

“SUPERFLEX: Rainbows, Sponges, Flies, and Spoons” brings together a focused presentation of works spanning more than three decades of the Danish artist collective’s practice at the MAK Center at the Schindler House. Through subtle manipulations of familiar objects and images, the works produce moments of humor and estrangement while exploring questions of infrastructure, ecological interdependence, and collective perception.

@superflexstudio

“SUPERFLEX: Rainbows, Sponges, Flies, and Spoons” is presented by the MAK Center for Art and Architecture in partnership with 1301PE (@1301pe).
Support for the exhibition generously provided by David Johnson and a grant from the Danish Arts Foundation.
Special thanks to Brian Butler from 1301PE, Kukje Gallery (@kukjegallery), and von Bartha (@vonbartha).

As “SUPERFLEX: Rainbows, Sponges, Flies, and Spoons” comes to a close—with the last day this Sunday, September 13—we’re reflecting on the many facets of this exhibition.

Among them was “Free Beer” (2007), an ongoing SUPERFLEX (@superflexstudio) project that has been produced in numerous iterations and contexts around the world. For the MAK Center presentation, we realized a new local edition in collaboration with SUPERFLEX and @solarcbrewing, who brewed “Free Beer” for the occasion of our “Copy Right” program, a conversation between Daniel McClean, an attorney who has represented SUPERFLEX in copyright disputes, and Brian Butler, founder of 1301PE, where the two discussed how SUPERFLEX uses art to challenge conventional understandings of copyright and intellectual property.

“Free Beer” plays on a well-known quote by the free software activist Richard Stallman: “Free as in ‘free speech’ not as in ‘free beer.’” “Free Beer” aims to create a counter-system to copyright, which is a regulative system of law and metaphorical rights.

Be sure to see “SUPERFLEX: Rainbows, Sponges, Flies, and Spoons” at the MAK Center at the Schindler House before it closes this Sunday, September 13.

Final weekend to experience:

THERE ARE OTHER FISH IN THE SEA
@palazzostrozzi in Florence, Italy

Thanks to everyone who helped making this happen

Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and Fondazione Hillary Merkus Recordati present “There Are Other Fish In The Sea”, the new site-specific installation by the Danish collective SUPERFLEX for the Courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence.
The work invites us to consider marine species as future inhabitants of our architectures. On the 60th anniversary of Florence’s 1966 flood, the project encourages us to rethink our relationship with the environment, questioning traditional human centrality.
“SUPERFLEX. There Are Other Fish In The Sea” is open to the public free of charge.
The project is promoted and organised by @palazzostrozzi and @fondazione_hmr, in collaboration with @kunsthalspritten, Aalborg (which will host the installation for its grand opening). Special Partner:

Last few days to see:
“There Are Other Fish In The Sea”, the new site-specific installation by the Danish collective SUPERFLEX, is on view in the Courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence.
Eight pink travertine columns emerge from a large body of water covering the entire space. The structures are conceived as potential refuges for water creatures when sea levels will rise in the future. On the 60th anniversary of the
1966 Florence flood, the installation challenges the centrality of humanity through what the SUPERFLEX collective defines as interspecies architecture, bridging humans and marine life forms.
“SUPERFLEX. There Are Other Fish In The Sea” is on public display every day until 2 August 2026.
The project is promoted and organised by @palazzostrozzi e @fondazione_hmr, in collaboration with @kunsthalspritten, Aalborg (that will host the installation for its big opening soon). Special Partner:

The rain couldn't keep us away from the special exhibition walkthrough and conversation with visiting artist Petra Cortright (@petra_cortright) and founder of 1301PE (@1301pe), Brian Butler, at the 1301SW (@1301sw_au) Alexandria gallery, where we were lucky enough to hear directly from one of the most influential voices in contemporary digital art 🌟

Visiting Sydney from Los Angeles for her exhibition, Cortright guided members through her immersive digital landscapes, which blend photography, painting and digital collage into richly layered compositions. Widely regarded as a pioneering figure in post-internet art, Cortright has helped shape contemporary conversations around digital image-making and the relationship between virtual and physical forms.

Don't miss Petra Cortright's major solo exhibition "shot silk wave star weep crush jet win", opening this Saturday 18 July @1301sw_au 🌠

A huge thank you to Eterno Property Group (@eternopropertygroup), our annual Programming Partner, for championing the arts and helping us bring an exciting lineup of cultural events to life.
