Jago Rackham (@ecstasy_cookbook) is on guest bao duty at BAO (@bao_london) with this beautifully crafted trotter and ham hock terrine bao with pickled plum jam. Yes, that is a thick layer of butter you can see. An exceptionally good thing to eat.

The full breakfast with merguez, ackee and saltfish and fried plantain, at 139 Fika (@139fika) in Peckham.

La Cova Fumada (@la_cava_fumada), founded in Barcelona in 1944, is well known for its bombeta, a deep-fried local speciality made of minced meat and potato. Add it to the list.

Enchiladas suizas – or “Swiss-style” enchiladas – are said to have been invented at Sanborns, a chain restaurant in Mexico, in the 1950s. “Swiss-style” because of the volume of dairy in the tomatillo cream cheese sauce, topped with sour cream. Find them on the brunch menu at 1910 (@1910mexicancantina) in Parsons Green, grabbing a seat in the cute little garden hidden away at the back if you can.

Welsh rarebit at the French House. Neil Borthwick’s restaurant upstairs at the French House in Soho (@thefrenchhousesoho) is always a delight, but if you don’t have time for a full lunch, the pub downstairs offers a shortcut: rillettes, oysters, madeleines and this superb Welsh rarebit.

Ramen for breakfast? Yes you can! Bone Daddies (@bonedaddies) is now serving breakfast at all eight locations. The signature breakfast ramen involve pork bone broth, Cumberland sausage mince, hash brown balls and more besides.

The lunch set menu at Lina Stores (@linastores) is great value. Two courses for £17; three for £20. Hard to argue with that.

Gai (braised chicken thighs) at Khao So I (@khaosoi.ldn) – (up to 25% off total bill on the CODE app)

Cal Pep is a Barcelona institution. These are the fried artichokes and aioli that @junoharley keeps going on about.

As you know, part of the reason I love running this page is being able to showcase restaurants that aren’t viral (but deserve to be)! I love putting new places on your feed that you might not of heard of and this spot is an absolute hidden gem.

@139fika are serving bold, flavour-packed dishes inspired by Caribbean, African, and British influences!

We had a superfood salad to start (exactly what I wanted in this heat) and then both went for the lemon & garlic herb crusted chicken breast with new potato, green beans and salad! Everything was so nice and fresh and we washed it down with homemade watermelon juice too

What I love about this spot was that it felt like stepping into somebody’s living room, it’s a family run restaurant and it feels so inviting and well thought out.

Definitely add this to your list if you’re in London and follow @wheretowithjules for more hidden gems and places to eat!

Listen...

Do you know that Peckham Rye has some of the best restaurants in London?

Today let’s go to an independent restaurant specialising in fusion Caribbean, African and British food! What an incredible mix

They are highly rated at 4.8 star on Google

For starters, we tried:
Bere bere peppered tiger prawns
and smokey BBQ and pineapple glazed chicken wings
There are both 10/10

But I was most excited about the mains

Tarragon lemon and garlic crusted chicken breast

and the panfried seabass fillet

Of course whenever I see fried plantain and Jollof rice I WILL ORDER it (haha)

This is 139 FIKA
Address: 139 Bellenden Rd, London SE15 4DH

I was SO full.

I don't know how many eggs were in that but I nearly had to tap out. It certainly wasn't your ordinary omelette.

I got the fluffy deep pan omelette with harissa lamb balls, sweet p, zucchini & rose harissa garlic sauce.

No doubt a banging high protein brekky/brunch for the gym peeps 💪 (and anyone really).

I took advantage of their current lunch offer which is between 11.30am-1.30pm Mon to Fri for just ⭐£14.50⭐

🤤 Serving African, Caribbean & English fusions

Lovely decor & 10/10 music (think 90s early 2000s r&b).

Good service & chilled vibes 😎

You'll enjoy it ✌
