❤️ What an unbelievable night at the 2026 Cure Usher Ball ❤️
Every year it gets even bigger, better, and more incredible than the last. It doesn’t happen by chance. It’s down to the passion and hard work that @markjordondad & @laura_norts put into raising awareness for this cause. What they do is something really special, bringing together so many people who all share the same hope for the future.
For Kevin & I, one of the proudest moments of the evening was being able to present them with a cheque for £5,000. Just a week ago, we held our own charity event, and that total was only possible because of the unbelievable support, generosity, and kindness of our amazing friends and family. To every single person who donated, bought a ticket, shared our posts, or simply showed up to support us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
These nights are about far more than fundraising. They are about raising awareness, creating understanding, building a community, and reminding families affected by Usher Syndrome that they are not alone.
Every penny raised and every conversation started brings us one step closer to the day we all dream of, a cure.
Until then, we continue to fight, to fundraise, to raise awareness, and most importantly, to hold on to hope. ❤️

🦖5K for 50 years! 🎉

For the last few months, we’ve been asking you to help us celebrate our 50th birthday by getting involved in something a little bit special: 5K for 50 Years!

The idea was simple: have some fun, get moving, and help us raise money so we can continue delivering brilliant community arts projects for the next five decades. 🎨❤️

And on Sunday, the team, along with friends, family and an enthusiastic furry friend, got together for a dino-themed 5K at Poulter Country Park! 🦖🌳

But this wasn’t just any 5K… we made it a journey through Junction Arts’ history too, stopping along the way to visit some of our public art projects, Top of the World, Fern and Bridging the Gap, created as part of Limestone Journeys 10 years ago, back in 2016.

We were joined by friends and fellow fundraisers, the brilliant Kelly & Chris from @13bendsdesign and @sheldonguitars who ran their 5k 😃

A few dinosaurs, lots of laughter, some muddy paws and plenty of happy memories later… we made it! 🥳

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already taken part, donated, cheered us on or helped make our 50th year so special. 💛

It’s been a truly transformative year for us, from moving into a new home to growing a Chesterfield-based artist collective and community space. Together, we’ve continued championing creativity, wellbeing and inclusion at every level.

This Deafblind Awareness Week, the #SeeHearUs campaign is all about shining a light on the abilities of people living with deafblindness.

Some people might be surprised to hear about Kelly Sheldon, who is a visual artist with vision loss - but we know there are people from all walks of life, with all kinds of talents, who have dual sensory loss.

We’ve loved learning about Kelly’s journey to working as a self-employed visual artist with her company @13bendsdesign

How do you finish the week?

Last Friday I attended the @loop_chesterfield networking at the @Tickled Trout, Baslow.

It was my first time attending but I got a lovely warm welcome from all the other female entrepreneurs and the hosts @helenrowanphotography and @michelle_counselling_wellbeing .

There was a great talk on branding by my friend @kellysheldon75 of @13bendsdesign,
who is the most amazing illustrator and graphic designer. She faces some challenging issues having Usher Syndrome which is a degenerative eye and hearing condition and is a true inspiration 🤩

Fab morning - lovely to see @libbylangley, @bronwynbenstead, @feel.gooddog and to meet @theenergisedwoman, @fire_and_pour, @annie_littlewood, @peaknetwebdesign and @emmajonesillustration many more 😊

I am absolutely thrilled to have been immortalised by the brilliant Kelly from @13bendsdesign in her part of the Chesterfield Makers exhibition! 🥰

These portraits by photographer @emmacroman , commissioned by @junctionartsuk, feature creatives from Chesterfield and are on display in town.

A while ago I took part in a Story Gathering session as of @derbyshiremakes for local creatives to tell our stories, and shared my very first poem from when I was in infants school ….

“Look at me in my boots.
I like my boots
I can splash in my boots.
I can kick puddles.”

Kelly has done an amazing job of capturing 5yr old me and I’m so so honoured to have a cameo in the talented line-up from our town!

Little me would be so proud and impressed that I’m still writing poetry and that it’s a huge part of my career ❤️

Chesterfield is full of creative talent – and we’re celebrating it.

Chesterfield Makers is a new exhibition of powerful portraits by Derbyshire photographer Emma Croman, commissioned by Junction Arts, featuring ten artists and makers connected to the town.

From illustrators and designers to ceramicists and theatre practitioners, the exhibition highlights the diverse creativity shaping Chesterfield today.

What an honour to be included in Chesterfield Makers! A new exhibition of gorgeous powerful portraits from @emmacroman - Emma’s work is so incredible!

It features 10 artists and makers connected to Chesterfield and really highlights how many talented people there are locally! Illustrators, designers, ceramic artists and theatre practitioners…we sure are a creative town! 🥰

Go and have a look at the amazing portraits and also there’s a few pieces of work including some live illustration and ceramic work that I collaborated with @claregagedesign on. The display is on until 17 May.
