LAST HOUSE 16
We had a blast partying and crafting with you all. Here’s a few shots of the exhibiting artists from last night.
The importance of these events and organizing feels even more relevant with the results of BC’s snap election. Creatives will always be making underground safe havens. This fall we’ll be participating in 5+ free events, and we hope to see you there or hear from you online! ❤️

Thank you Last House team for a wonderful evening and your hard work over the past five years in making nights like this possible :)

What a beautiful experience it has been meeting 15 incredible humans — including @15_kites, @sondalight , @emm.ehh, @megnatphil, @octopusfeathers and @kimcooperart — through the Emotion Cartography project. Over five weeks, we explored how emotion moves through our bodies, stories, and relationships. Through weekly “data collectors”, ritual, mapping, and reflection, we unfolded layers of our lived experience — witnessing one another with care, creativity, and complexity.
People brought snacks, “wound wisdom,” “silent witness,” perspectives, and skills like knowledge exchange. Each person made the space feel rich, real, and heart-achingly necessary.

“Sometimes we need softness to find our way back to ourselves.”
“I know I can’t be fixed in five weeks… but I notice more bird songs now.”

My heart is so full of joy and gratitude for the journey we got to take together — unfolding our lives, making connections with ourselves and each other. It was so special to see the neighbourhood and stories through their perspectives. Participants used the space in extraordinary ways — bridging past, present, and future hopes, holding hard things, and offering resources to one another. I’ll never forget the person whose “living room with no door” kept expanding into a sense of themselves as always circling, always radiating outward — or the person who arrived in dark lines and left in bursts of colour.

My heart still flutters remembering the hope some people shared — like delicate spider silk spreading to connect over an impossible expanse, Something unknown, surprising, authentic. Barely visible and vulnerable we whispered our “data” across the canyon.

In a world that can feel so twisted with darkness and pain, I find courage to continue in moments like this. Remembering how we treat each other matters. The everyday moments count. And there is incredible resilience in joy and community care.

$200 𝕸𝖎𝖓𝖉 𝕮𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖑𝖊.2 ˢʷᵃⁿˢ ᵉᵐᵇʳᵃᶜᵉ 39”x55” colouring pencil, oil pastel, chalk, crayon, graphite, house paint, dry-dex, found plastic & pushpins on found mustard yellow wood panel. November 2024

This mysterious wood panel canvas jumped me from the trash on my way home from work and I took it with me and started drawing a castle (I’ve been drawing a lot of castles recently). Im thinking a lot about thoughts (lol) and how often I chase after one and end up in a spiral. This piece was definitely a practice of letting a thought pass by untouched/ unprobed/ unscathed.
At the bottom right you’ll see the canvas’s original owner’s signature which is a cute little reminder that one fella’s trash is always beautiful in the right beholder’s eye
