@1963td you okay dude? Do you need some help? I think you might need some SERIOUS help. Go to therapy. It saves lives and braincells(sometimes) Also, good fucking luck getting a lawyer for this. You will be laughed at. Also, technically I didn't censor you. I could have. I probably should have in hindsight.. but whatever.

@1963td This comment perfectly illustrates the problem we have when it comes to sexual assault. First of all, I am not “glorifying” rape, i’m vehemently condemning it. That’s an absurd accusation, and frankly a lazy one. Second, and this part should not need explaining, rape is not part of anyone’s job. Not a detention officer. Not a police officer. Not a teacher. Not a politician. Not anyone. I cover sexual assault cases no matter who the perpetrator is. If it’s a teacher abusing a student, I cover it. If it’s a pastor, I cover it. If it’s a cop, I cover it. If it’s an ICE detention officer sexually abusing someone in federal custody, I cover it. It’s not bias, it’s something that is consistent from my account. What’s actually happening here is that some people are deeply uncomfortable when abuse is exposed inside systems they personally support. And instead of condemning the crime, they try to silence the coverage. You can still support the system and condemn those who commit crimes within it. When it’s about a teacher, I don’t lump all teachers, same with pastors, politicians, law enforcement or anyone else. That instinct, to minimize, excuse, or suppress reporting when the abuser wears a badge, a uniform, or holds authority, says far more about you than it does about me. This is especially true when the person pleads guilty, as David Corvelle did. Holding people accountable is not anti-law enforcement, anti-religion, anti-education, etc. The only thing it is, is anti-rape. And if your first reaction to a sexual assault case is to tell people to “stop talking about it” instead of “this should never happen,” then you are defending the wrong thing. I will not stop covering abuse just because it makes some people uncomfortable. Silence is what allows predators to keep operating. Follow if you want the stories people try to shut down. And if this bothers you, ask yourself why.
