A family home with a sculptural slide, a pastel pink cocktail bar and a pool house made for entertaining. Welcome to @19lahome in Cardiff, the home of Claire Bowles.

Built around a love of art, collected pieces and bringing people together, the home combines open-plan living with warm oak cladding, polished concrete and playful 70s references. There’s a coffee bar that transforms into a cocktail bar by evening, a cosy lounge for movie nights and an indoor-outdoor kitchen designed for everything from family dinners to poolside parties.

The standout? A pool house featuring a sculptural slide by @splinterworks, a hot tub, sauna and steam room.

As Claire puts it, the vision was to create a home “full of fun” and it’s a house that clearly doesn’t take itself too seriously.

“We always dreamed of building our own house... when we blended families and had a baby, suddenly we were six, so we wanted a really nice big family home that was full of fun,” shares homeowner Claire during our tour of @19lahome in Cardiff.

Reimagining what modern prefabricated architecture can achieve, the home was manufactured off-site in Germany by WeberHaus and erected on-site in just 10 days watertight. Behind the striking glass-and-carport facade lies an expansive open-plan layout anchored by polished concrete floors, custom aged barn oak kitchen joinery, and a dual-purpose space that functions as a coffee bar by morning and a gold-leaf-accented cocktail lounge by evening.

The estate’s centerpiece is a dedicated indoor pool house anchored by a custom SplinterWorks slide, designed to evoke the silhouette of a Christian Louboutin stiletto, alongside a hot tub, sauna, steam room, retro American pool table gym, and an indoor grill kitchen built for year-round entertaining.

This isn’t just a pool house… it’s the house everyone wants to hang out at ✨🛝🪩

A slide into the pool, disco balls catching the sunlight, and a space designed for making memories. It’s playful, unexpected, and proof that great design should be fun too!

Welcome to the pool room at @19lahome, where family fun meets five-star design.

An oversized lightbox photograph captures an aerial view of Claire Bowles’ pool party, while a sculptural marine-grade stainless steel slide by @splinterworks takes centre stage, inspired by the silhouette of a Christian Louboutin heel.

The space continues with a sauna, steam room and games room complete with a vintage pool table, creating a playful retreat made for lovely afternoons and lively evenings.

Thank you @19lahome @dad.4.girls for getting us involved with the inaugural “Show Cancer the V” event in Bute Park.

It was made even more poignant, as it’s the first anniversary since we lost our beautiful sister in law Sophie. Sophie would have loved to been part of this greatevent as she was a born fundraiser for a cause that was very close to her heart. Always thinking of you darling girl.

We also had in our thoughts my wonderful colleague @natalie261081 who is currently receiving treatment in @velindrecs Although you’d never know it, she takes everything in her stride and is a gritty fighter. We are so lucky to have her at @thestandpeople .

For Claire Bowles, creating @19lahome was never about filling a house with statement pieces for the sake of it. It was about building somewhere her family of six could really live. Somewhere bright, open, and full of life. A place where friends drop by, the kids can run from one end of the house to the other, and the kitchen is always at the centre of it all.

Of course, there are plenty of unforgettable moments too. A pink marble cocktail bar hides behind the coffee station, ready for evenings after the school run. Polished concrete sits alongside aged barn oak to soften the spaces, while art and collected objects make the house feel like it’s grown over time rather than appeared all at once.

“We wanted a really big, light, open, fun home,” says Claire. “Somewhere for our kids to grow up, have fun, and for family and friends to come together.”

It’s playful, welcoming, and proof that a family home can be every bit as design-led as it is lived in.

Designed for a family of six and built around a love of entertaining, Claire Bowles’s Cardiff home (@19lahome) is a masterclass in creating spaces that feel both impressive and inviting.

From the moment you enter, natural light pours through the interiors, illuminating a palette of polished concrete, aged oak, brass accents, and carefully layered textures. At the heart of the home, an expansive open-plan living space brings together cooking, dining, and relaxation, creating an environment where family life unfolds effortlessly.

For Claire, every room was designed with connection in mind. A bespoke coffee bar transitions into a cocktail lounge by evening, while the kitchen overlooks the pool, allowing indoor and outdoor living to feel seamlessly intertwined. Throughout the home, curated artwork, collected objects, and family photographs bring warmth and personality to the contemporary architecture.

Beyond the main living spaces, a striking pool house elevates the experience even further. Complete with a sculptural slide by @splinterworks, sauna, steam room, gym, and entertaining areas, it blurs the line between family home and private retreat.
