A beautiful celebration of Ishikawa’s rich cultural heritage — from Kutani porcelain and Wajima & Yamanaka lacquerware to Kaga cuisine and Japanese sake.

A wonderful reminder of how craftsmanship, culinary traditions and the spirit of Japanese hospitality come together.

Thank you so much for the kind invitation to the exhibition earlier this week and the lovely reception at the V&A! 🥂🍾✨

FINAL DAY — Sunday, 18 October 2026

Every piece starts with something discarded - fabric, plastic, a fragment someone else called rubbish
I don't see waste. I see what we've stopped valuing, and a chance to make people look again.

Come see the work, hear the thinking behind it - part of Tide & Place events at WRAP_SPACE.

‘Again And Again: Revisited’ (2026)
(Sculpture as Performance)
In May during the Brighton Festival ‘Again And Again’ was performed at The Adelaide Salon Exhibition ‘Act O’ at the Brighton Dome and later at The Adelaide salon a The Royal Pavilion Art Gala. It was a live sculpture pertormance centred on collaboration, tension, and repeated negotiation. Two bodies are bound together by stretch bands, creating a shifting physical connection that resists and responds to every movement.
Through walking, pulling, yielding, and returning, we tested the give and take between us - a continuous exchange of force, balance, and intention. On this occasion the work explored how relationships are shaped through physical, social, and spatial dynamics.
Each action becomes a form of dialogue, where movement replaces language and tension reveals the complexities of cooperation, resistance, trust, and control. Repetition is central: through attempting, adjusting, and trying again, the performance examines limits, shared capacity, and the ettort required to move together. As a sculptural duet, Again And Again redraws the space through bodies in relation, asking how far collaboration can stretch before it pulls apart, and what becomes possible when two people remain connected. Ihe pertormers test rules, establish patterns, disrupt them and try again. They explore how far they can move together, when cooperation becomes resistance, and what happens when individual intentions come into conflict with shared movement. The
bands eventually come off, but the relationship they have created remains: movements are repeated, remembered and echoed without the physical connection.
In this way, Again & Again: Revisited is both a revision, a prequel and a continuation - a sculpture made through bodies, material, space and time, asking what it means to remain connected while negotiating the limits of individual and collective possibility. Photo by @joemarch_photography

On Thursday 24 September, The Adelaide Salon came to The Brighton Beach House to open a new 2026/27 artistic season, with Talks, Live performance art, live music, art and video installations across the Loft and Rock Room level. Another spectacular evening with our amazing Salon crowd and incredible artist performances. The energy and atmosphere was so generous and electric.
We also welcomed the autumn issue of ROSA Magazine and reflected with Hedley Swain , CEO of Brighton & Hove Museums on the success of the inaugural Royal Pavilion & Adelaide Salon Art Gala, a first in 175 years, future collaborations and the art scene here in Brighton.

Thank you to every artist and talker, our guests, everyone who joined the conversation, ROSA and Soho House for sharing this journey. Over the coming days, we’ll share the performances and the people behind them in more detail.

Thank you everyone for your unique spirit, endeavour and support,

Pascal & Paulina ❤️❤️

Time to meet the artists for ‘The Warp and the Weft’ ; an open call exhibition showcasing the work of Sussex based artists and makers.

It’s so lovely to see you support each other for the exhibition. Please post a comment, share when you can and like these posts. It really helps with the promotion of the show.

Meet Andy Ash!

Meet artist, researcher and educator @1andyash . Andy’s practice starts with an expanded idea of sculpture, moving between installation, performance, film, sound, drawing, print, text and objects. Collaboration and dialogue are central to his approach, often bringing together different disciplines and perspectives to explore how we understand ourselves, each other and the world around us. His work frequently connects artistic practice with research and education, questioning where those boundaries sit and how making, thinking and learning can inform one another. Andy’s practice is as much about interaction and process as it is about the finished work.

A (.) Walker: a performance for walking, material and place’
Film (sculpture as performance)

‘A (.) Walker: a performance for walking, material and place’ responds to The Warp & Weft through the relationship between structure, repetition, material and change. The cloth represents a given or inherited structure; the warp; while walking, treading and working across it becomes the weft: an embodied, repetitive action that introduces movement, agency and transformation.

The film draws on the historical association of the Walker (my mothers name) with the physical labour of treading and fulling cloth, but reinterprets this relationship through contemporary performance. The body becomes the tool and walking becomes a process of making, where pressure, repetition, chance and duration gradually alter the material. The cloth records the action, becoming both a surface and an archive of the encounter.

The work therefore explores the tension between what is given and what is made, between structure and improvisation, and between inherited histories and their contemporary reinterpretation.’

Thank you to all our phenomenal guests, artists, sponsors and supporters for joining us for the inaugural Royal Pavilion & The Adelaide Salon Art Gala.
We reawakened one of Britain’s most extraordinary landmarks as a living contemporary salon. After 175 years the Royal Pavilion once again became a home for art, music, critical thought, heritage, identity and community, casting a light on international, national and Sussex artists.
This remarkable evening marks the new partnership between Brighton & Hove Museums and The Adelaide Salon, supporting the palace’s future and contemporary arts in Brighton. We are deeply moved by the generosity, enthusiasm and belief shown by everyone making this vision a reality.
Thank you for being a part of this exciting adventure. We look forward to expanding our horizons together at our next Art Gala with the Royal Pavilion.

All our love Paulina & Pascal xx
