out of all of the uk underground artists we’ve watched take the world by storm last year, I feel there’s one that undoubtedly remains the most underrated by a large margin: rico ace

that’s not a bad thing either, but I think it’d be valid to talk about rico and how the lack of a solo discography places him in a predicament like none other we’ve really seen in recent memory

right now, he sits at over 15 million monthly listeners on spotify, in large part due to his collaborations with esdeekid, many of which coming off of the most viral rap album in the world: ‘rebel’

you guys have already heard the music, but with rico, not even having an album out, I think there’s a unique opportunity for him to deliver an album that essentially serves as his first step and statement into his own sonic identity this year

crazy to even say someone can be underrated with such massive streaming numbers, and at least with the uk underground as a whole, 2026 is going to be the most pivotal year yet for them

his newest song ‘malibu’ is a funny callback to all of the references he’s put out with esdeekid referring back to the place

what do y’all think of rico and his place in the context of the wider uk scene currently? thoughts on ‘malibu’ if you gave it a listen? are you excited for his debut album this year? lmk below family; love y’all <3

the uk underground keeps on winning

esdeekid is currently an artist that I think so many people are seeing on their timelines. his music is just getting more and more traaction

it comes after he dropped “rebel,” his 2025 album, earlier this year in june

there are a ton of songs on this that are currently in his spotify top 10, and it’s for good reason. songs like “phantom” and “palaces” showcase why people love esdee

the beats are so bossy. the vocal delivery carries such an aggressive energy, and his accent ties everything together. you can hear the influences of past artists like sgp and raider klan in a few songs that carry a bit more of a phonk influence too

he’s tapped in with artists like yung lean and bladee and nettspend as well

it was up after ‘lv sandals’ but his constant collaborations with artists like rico ace and more have proven that he’s bringing something so new to the uk underground at the moment

have y’all tapped in with esdee? if so what’s your favorite song by him? best in the uk underground? shoutout the goat man I can’t wait to see where he goes with things

lmk below family love y’all
