The details matter. 🧪

Intentional work is about more than just doing drills—it’s about understanding why you’re doing them and what each detail is teaching your mind and body to recognize in the game.

Pro Skills Developer works with 2029 PG Tre Mack on balance, pace, body control, and manipulation—developing the ability to control yourself while manipulating the defense. The goal is to build habits that translate when the game speeds up and the pressure gets real.

Crafting for 1,000 hours.⏳

BEHIND THE SCENES 🧱

This segment was all about conditioning, activation, footwork, pace, manipulation, and finishing with purpose. We finished with a 5-pound heavy ball and a regular basketball to change the activation demands and challenge the body differently—from the core, through the shoulders, all the way down to the fingertips.

We’re not just working on moves. We’re working on how, when, and why to use them.

The focus was on footwork, pace, ball manipulation, eye manipulation, line drives, and using 3 dribbles to finesse the 1st-level defender while using our eyes and feet to manipulate the 2nd and 3rd levels of defense.

The drag gives you options. It allows you to read how the defender is playing you and adjust based on their positioning. The in-and-out can be a long step or a quick step depending on the situation and the defender in front of you. The goal is to create an advantage, get downhill, and keep the defender reacting instead of allowing them to dictate the possession.

Once we get downhill, we manipulate and run with the ball, using one hard dribble to create lift and momentum into the swing step. That counter allows us to respond when the 1st-level defender cuts us off while staying under control and maintaining our pace.

Then comes the finish—finesse, balance, body control, and reading the 2nd and 3rd levels. Don’t rush the finish. See the help. Feel the defender. Stay under control. Let your footwork and pace create the advantage.

Every detail has a purpose.

Stay where your feet are.

Read the defense.

Manipulate the defender.

Create an advantage.

Play with pace.

Finish under control.

This is the work that happens behind the scenes. The small details that eventually become big differences when the lights come on.

1,000 hours of intentional work.

1% better. Brick by brick. 🧱

PACE + FOOTWORK = DEFENSIVE MANIPULATION 🧪🧱

Your pace and footwork allow you to manipulate the defense instead of letting the defense dictate your game. Change speeds, create angles, get defenders off balance, and attack the space they give you.

Don’t just move fast—learn how to control the defense. 🧱

@1mackkk The #2 overall rated 2029 in Kentucky (#1 PG)
One of the hardest-working and most competitive kids I’ve ever seen. Coming off a big time summer like he had, he still got the same demeanor… #Back2Work
