1XRUN is the worlds leading publisher of fine art, and top online destination for original art and print editions.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Ep. 5 of #LiveFromTheArchive. Pulling from @thegatespreserve: Picasso Stevie (12 x 12 edition) by Naturel, published by @1xrun, acquired in 2015. Copped on the release day because duh 🎹✨

Quick lesson, because folks mix these up: a limited edition print is NOT a poster. A poster gets printed as long as people keep buying. An edition is a fixed RUN, and this one is 50, each signed and numbered by the artist with a certificate of authenticity. The number is a promise: there will never be a 51st.

So this one holds two archives in one object: Stevie and Picasso. A Motown legend painted in the language of Cubism, released in Detroit for Murals in the Market.

And the timing. Songs in the Key of Life turned 50 on September 28th. It debuted at No. 1 and took Album of the Year. Fifty years later, it’s still the blueprint.

I bought this the day it dropped because some things you don’t wait on. A 🔑 opens the door. An archive keeps it open.

What’s your #1 track off Key of Life? 👇🏾 HOW DO YOU EVEN CHOOSEEEEEEE I mean As right we can all agree?????

Every wall holds a record.
When @cityinstitute_ brought their tour through Islandview, they reached out to City Walls, and our Director of Programs met the group at the murals sponsored by @1xrun to talk about public art across Detroit: the artists, the process, and how residents and neighborhoods can bring a mural to their own block.Public art here isn’t decoration. It’s memory in plain sight, and it takes all of us to keep it on the walls.Thank you to @cityinstitute_ for the invite, and to @1xRUN for the work in Islandview.

And the progress continues! Five more muralists continue their work for the Small Business Murals Project. Look at them go!

SBMP pairs muralists with small business owners throughout Detroit to create transformative and large-scale murals. This project aims to spur business growth for the participating entrepreneurs and create one-of-a-kind art in Detroit neighborhoods that bring people together.
