#waybackwednesday Exactly one year ago today the lights came on in Spartanburg! --
Seeing Spartanburg in a New Light brought nine temporary art installations to public spaces in ten neighborhoods throughout the city. The project was a partnership among Bloomberg Philanthropies, the City of Spartanburg, SC Police and Community Relations Departments, internationally renowned light and digital media artist Erwin Redl, the Chapman Cultural Center, and neighborhood associations in the city of Spartanburg. Seeing Spartanburg in a New Light, built on National Night Out, an annual event that promotes crime prevention efforts, police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie.
--
Take a look back at the event and be sure to visit the remaining installations! Find out where they are through the link in our bio. #seeingspartanburg #onespartanburg

Here's a spotlight on one of our awesome local sponsors, @projecthubspartanburg, and one of their cool projects currently in the works!
@creative.development_llc was awarded the 2017 ArtsXcelerator Grant to install a STEAM Garden on the City of Spartanburg’s Southside, which is currently identified as a “food desert.” This innovative location will serve as a bridge between the Downtown and Southside areas of Spartanburg, improving the vitality of both neighborhoods by creating connections between individuals, schools, and organizations.

My most vivid memory of visiting this city at six years old was the Star Trek exhibit at the AMNH. Now I remember it as my first time visiting the complicated and amazing city where my parents met and started this complicated and amazing family. Really proud to have stood on their shoulders to return as a first generation college graduate and complete my Master's degree in public health (as of yesterday). Life is pretty decent. ✌🏼🎓
