PIZZAKASE!

With the success of the first dinner, and after many requests, Pizzakase is back as a new monthly feature at the CHARBAR at @jet2nolo

So what is Pizzakase?

Pizzakase is a Japanese dinning experience, translating to “I’ll leave the pizza up to you”, where the chef curates a multi-course, personalized meal using the freshest seasonal ingredients. It is a collaborative experience where guests entrust their culinary journey to the chef. An experience that can only be brought to you by INHWC and Nolo.

We’ve been working hard on this month’s menu and we’re excited to share it with you today! It features two favorites from the first series and THREE NEW PIES that we can’t wait for you to try! Along with the pies @kevinmelendez_ will be featuring two cocktails to go along with the dinner!

Scroll through the slides to see what we’re bringing to the CHARBAR this go-around!

****We’re only announcing 4 out of the 5 pies and 1 of the cocktails today!

****Comment PIZZAKASE and which pie you’re most looking forward to trying at this month’s dinner and we’ll send you the final pie and cocktail!

Hibachi Salad Pizza- pizza topped with fresh house salad and ginger dressing. The perfect start to the dinner!

Spicy Miso Soup Pizza- ground pork, shiitake mushrooms, ginger, garlic, shallots, corn, miso paste, soy sauce, chili oil. This one absolutely brought the HEAT at our last dinner! 🔥

Chicken Katsu Pizza- panko crusted chicken, topped with cold shredded cabbage, Japanese bbq sauce, scallions, and sesame seeds. Think bbq chicken pizza raised to a whole new level!

Spicy Otoro With Masago Pizza-sesame oil base, topped with fatty tuna belly otoro sashimi, masago, wasabi aioli, and shredded nori. This one is for our sushi lovers!

*Otoro may be subbed out based on availability. Another high quality/fresh fish with similar characteristics may be added if need be.

Japanese Cold Noodle Cocktail- a deconstructed, savory twist on a Piña Colada that evokes the nostalgic, refreshing flavor of chilled sesame-and-cucumber soba noodles. This cocktail was the talk of our first Pizzakase!

It’s almost time to say goodbye to a New Haven summer tradition/pizza!

The Fresh Tomato Pie from @frankpepepizza is the official kickoff to summer here in New Haven, showing up towards the end of June. Using fresh native tomatoes, the pizza is worth waiting the colder months for. But just like The Fresh Tomato Pie starts off the summer, it also closes it out, usually ending towards the end of September. If you haven’t grabbed one yet, now’s the time!

🍕 Fresh Tomato Pie- Fresh native tomatoes, mozz, fresh basil, garlic, grated Pecorino Romano, extra virgin olive oil.

THE soda of New Haven pizza!

There are a handful of telltale signs that let you know you’re in a great New Haven pizza spot and carrying @foxonparkofficial sodas is certainly at the top of the list.

What started as a spring water company in 1922, @foxonpark would later become the iconic soda company that is still heavily linked to New Haven pizza today.

Just like people have a sworn allegiance to certain New Haven pizza spots, the same goes for their choice in Foxon Park sodas.

Options include traditional flavors like Kola, Orange and Grape, while also its signatures sodas like the White Birch, Gassosa and the tougher to find (and pictured) Iron Brew.

As old as the New Haven pizza itself, Foxon Park is another Connecticut institution that needs to be celebrated.

So what’s your go-to Foxon Park soda? Tell us in the comments below. 👇
