Sunday night out of 22nd Street on the Freedom. Back Tuesday morning. We went looking for yellowfin tuna, but they had disappeared. We spent a while working the yellowfin grounds and ended up finding bullet tuna there instead. Not exactly what anyone booked the trip for. After searching for a while, we shot north to just south of San Nicolas Island and got into the island fish. Yellowtail, sheephead, calico bass and a couple of huge vermilion. Then after dinner, in the dark, the bonito went wide open. Fish on every rail. It stayed that way until the Navy came over the radio and told us we had to leave. Every person on that boat booked a yellowfin trip, and every person came home without one. But we still came back with some really good island fish, a pile of bonito, and a memorable couple days on the water. I was definitely happy with how the trip turned out in the end. Phone died somewhere in there, so this is most of what I got.

Warm water isn’t done yet. 🔥 Boats in SoCal are still putting yellowtail, yellowfin tuna and dorado on the deck, and yes, even a sprinkle of wahoo. As hard as that is to believe in late October, it’s happening. If you’re making one more run, we’ve got the yo-yo iron, surface iron and gear to match it. Rain got you down? Swing by the shop, grab a coffee and swap fish stories with us. 🎣 @amigosportfishingsp @22ndstreetlanding #SoCalFishing #Yellowtail #YellowfinTuna #Dorado #Wahoo #YoYoIron #SurfaceIron #TackleExpress #SantaClarita

Sacks. Looks like the juice finally dried up in the area we’ve been hammering the Yellowfin recently. We opted for a back-up plan of Reds and junk to prevent going home empty handed. Back home to the drawing board in preparation for my 2 day trip on November 4th. @LiferCustoms @AmigoSportfishingSP @22ndStreetLanding
