My first endshow piece with some amazing dancers
Grateful for the opportunity @24dance_centre @24dance_education
THE WEIGHT OF WE

a contemporary floorwork piece about connection, resilience, and the strength that exists when we choose to stand together.

The piece explores the weight we carry — individually, and collectively. Through grounded movement, intricate floorwork, and moments of physical dependence, the dancers constantly shift between supporting one another and struggling against one another. What may appear fragile can become powerful; what looks like falling can become a way of holding someone up.

At first glance, the movement may create the illusion that the dancers are working against each other. Bodies collide, directions contradict, and moments of separation suggest conflict or collapse. But beneath that illusion lies something different.

Every fall has a connection.
Every struggle has a purpose.
Every body carries part of the weight.

The Weight of We questions what it truly means to stand strong. Is strength about standing alone, or about knowing when to lean on someone else?

The dancers become a reflection of one another — sometimes individuals, sometimes one collective body. Their strength is not found in avoiding the weight, but in sharing it.

Because sometimes, standing strong doesn’t mean standing alone.

It means carrying the weight of “we.”
