Everybody has an opinion about the ride-hailing strike in Lagos. 😂

Some people think the drivers are right. Others think the strike defeats the purpose. But what if we’re all arguing about different parts of the same problem?

Sometimes, what looks like the problem on the surface is only a symptom of something deeper.

And in a system where drivers, passengers and platforms all depend on one another, the real question is: how do we build a system that works for everyone?

I’m curious. Whose side are you on, and what do you think the real problem is?

Bolt and inDrive Drivers Demand Higher Fares

Ride-hailing drivers in Lagos are raising concerns over rising fuel prices and low earnings. One driver claimed he spent ₦80,000 on fuel after working overnight but earned only ₦60,000, leaving him struggling to support his family.

The Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON) is demanding higher fares, reduced commissions and improved welfare for drivers.

The union announced a shutdown of Bolt and inDrive services in Lagos from October 12, as discussions over drivers’ demands continue.

I bought fuel 80,000 naira and worked all night yesterday as a @bolt_nigeria driver and @indrive.ng but I got 60,000 naira this morning. Now nothing to take home to feed my family, I have four children and a wife at home, I am paying their school fees and feeding them, I have to service my car as well. Please indrive increase your price or leave Nigeria because nah wuna deh spoil work for us drivers. Bolt increase your price please . THIS IS SO AMAZING
