As I reflect on this past summer, the one thing that fulfills my heart to the fullest is GA. My God, do I have so much to say. I felt the weight of this post for so long, as I knew it would be hard to articulate what this trip, and months long journey had done to my heart, mind, and soul. The people I met and the God I know all too little, brought forth a type of peace I’ve never experienced in my life. Before even GA started, the preparation, trainings and research I poured my heart into. I didn’t know much of anything going into this, and I could definitely feel the waves of intensity washing over me as the first week of meetings came closer. The first week was online committees, and boy was it hard on the mind but it fulfilled me to be in the group chats with my fellow YADDs. As boring and Presbyterian polity filled as it was, my committee made it fun, we even wrote a little fan-fiction out of boredom, ah Christian’s am I right 🫠 Then the day of the trip, a man in a strange suite caught my eye before I even entered the plane. Thought nothing of it until I found out this man was apart of the GA family. And I sat right next to him and another young man. This kickstarted my adventures with the PFTA group. With the days passing, I grew closer with my committee friends and the PFTK community. The rift created between my two groups of friends was palpable, but I introduced myself to a young lady. We bonded during floor time together and were inseparable. Me and her took on the connection role, and found ourselves being the bridge between the fallen and the restless. Even through the rift the bridge created made me feel like my purpose in life had been clear. I got to see many other young adults eyes open wide to God and Gods kingdom of many hearts, and find their own purpose too. I wish to harvest that purpose, and curiosity within Gods spirit and become a spiritual Guide next GA but I’m still working towards that goal. For now, My fellow YADDs, PCUSA family and wider Church Family, I am working on a letter. A letter of gratitude, fulfillment of purpose, hopes and dreams, and most importantly my experience and witness of God throughout everyone.

Will never not be absolutely mortified that I asked the president of Princeton Seminary who he was… That said, the people I met are truly unforgettable. Huge shoutout to the YAADs (especially the RUS YAADs) for making this whole experience so fun. Thank you for going out with me on a whim just because I wanted to explore Milwaukee after 16-hour days, for playing Parliamentary bingo with me, for the adorable pocket Jesus, and for being there through my many, many rants (y’all deserve awards for this). Also, the Ian Hall memes? Top tier. Even he approved, so you know it was legit. To the commissioners who helped me, thank you doesn’t even cover it. You didn’t just help me with motions; you showed up for me emotionally and spiritually, and I’m really going to miss our group chat. Thank you for explaining what “stan” means (yes, ik I’m gen z… no comment) and for answering my million questions about GA procedures and bureaucracy. You are all incredible, and I’m so grateful for the constant reminders to slow down and take care of myself. We stan Jesus (iykyk)! This trip was incredible (also very stressful). I’m so thankful for the people who saw something in me and gave me opportunities I’ll never take for granted. ESPECIALLY Corey and Patricia! It meant so much to finally learn more about and experience the PCUSA. I’ll forever be grateful to my Presbytery for choosing me as the Coastlands YAAD, y’all are the reason I even got to be part of this, and I don’t take that lightly. Still not over this, and never will be. 10/10 experience! I’m leaving with a full heart, 227 inside jokes, and so much GA lore to explain to anyone who will listen. Forever grateful, very sleep-deprived, wired, and already missing it all.
