My hand was forced many times and I had plenty of chances to quit. But I continued to bet on myself knowing that this vision would come to reality.

Did I anticipate multiple giant locations? Never. I didn’t even want that. But it was the love of the people that made me break out of my comfort zone to expand.

My next goal with being more intentional is to bring back our attitude we started with. I’m still learning to balance it all but we are doing everything we can to push the envelope.

I cannot compete in Powerlifting anymore 💔

I love Powerlifting and the community we built from it. That’s why I will always make it point of emphasis in our gyms, will host powerlifting meets, and provide support for our lifters.

But as a competitor, my body could not take it. In my years in the sport, I only ever had one successful peak without having an inflammatory flare up.

Something about pushing my body every with heavy loads, would trigger my ankylosing spondylitis and I’d regress the last 3 weeks of every meet. Pain and inflammation across my body that made it hard to walk let alone train.

Several meets I took pills and wrapped up my ankles until right before I hit the platform. I would leave in crutches afterward. Even did a bench only meet one year because that’s all I could muster.

Nevertheless, it holds a special place in my heart and it helped me build a ton of muscle that set me up for success in Bodybuilding.
