Chongqing, China 🇨🇳 — a real-life cyberpunk city. Its history dates back over 3,000 years, and it officially became a municipality in 1997. Built across steep mountains where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet, its layered roads, high-rise buildings, and elevated monorail reflect decades of rapid urban development. Today, its neon-lit skyline has made it one of China’s most distinctive cities.

Chongqing, China’s “punk cyber city”. Stacked on cliffs where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet, this “8D city” of neon, bridges, and fog has a monorail that runs straight through an apartment building, and Hongyadong’s glowing cliffside towers light up like Spirited Away after dark. Its name means “double celebration,” a nod to a 12th-century imperial promotion, and it even served as China’s wartime capital in WWII. Add fiery hotpot born on the docks and a night scene that never quits, and you’ve got the most cyberpunk city on Earth. 🌶️✨ #Chongqing #CyberpunkCity #8DCity #China
