Today's the day and this one hits hard.
I made my last visit Friday night after work for a decompress sesh and made sure to sip on everything on tap I hadn't had before. I took home a few keepsakes to help clean up. And today I sip on a Long Love The King I had stashed as a final salute.

Even though obviously I can't singlehandedly save a microbrewery by becoming a problematic drunk, it's still hard not to feel like you could've done something to save a beloved small business.

It's wild to think something as successful and heralded as Weathered Souls had become can still be gone the next moment. Beyond an incredible catalogue of James Beard worthy craft beer that I didn't get to try enough of, this place stood as a triumph of representation in a space with very few black faces and had community impact on a GLOBAL scale, and that's what I appreciated the most. Also they convinced adult-me to give brussels sprouts another chance once upon a time 😋

if anybody deserved to make it forever, it was Weathered Souls, but I'm really glad for the near decade we did get and hope for a new chapter down the line. Even if this is it, what's cool is the Black Is Beautiful recipe is remixed all over the world so Weathered Souls can't really die, just multiply!

Good luck to the whole Weathered Souls family on what's next and thanks for everything, we won't forget! 🤎

I spent 2019 with so many beautiful people - both familiar and unexpected! From the annual DrMLKJr March and the race for mayor in San Antone to moving to Hutto, and spending holidays back with my roots in Fabens... God bless Texas and all the strong, wonderful, dear-to-my-heart souls who fill it ❤️
I love all of you very much and pray you’ll be with me one more year
