Sometimes all you need is a good painting (or 14).

If you love brushstrokes are much as we do, here are some painters whose work we’ve been loving lately, from emerging artists to established names.

Comment SEEINGART to get art in your inbox, weekly.

🔸 @zenablackwellartist - the mysteries of childhood, memory and identity.
🔸 @hollylowenstudio - evolutionary psychology, sport, and domestication.
🔸 @anasamoylova - these photo paintings are the perfect way to search for authenticity in America (and our chat is now live on @watchseenart)
🔸 @hallchase - using brewed coffee to make pigments, Hall documents the ever-shifting lines between personal and generational narratives.
🔸 @nancy_cadogan_studio - strong, contemplative spaces(listen to our chat on the Seen pod).
🔸 @joelmesler - Joel’s work is so vulnerable that it lets you be vulnerable(our chat with Joel is also on the Seen pod).
🔸 Lotte Laserstein - women with psychological presence, well before her time.
🔸 @nancyfriedland - narrative, the family album, landscape and light. The magic that happens in the flawed translation from one medium to the next.
🔸 @eyemahinary - Mahinay’s main tools of creation are her hands. Interacting through pushes and pulls, swipes and swirls, her compositions as imbued with posture and mass.
🔸 @paulanthonysmithstudio - quietly arresting, layered, politically resonant, and deeply considered. These are works that stop you in your tracks.
🔸 @the.irving.penn.foundation - we know Penn isn’t known for his paintings, but that’s what makes them all the more worth looking at. In 1941, he spent a year in Mexico painting, but he found his results to be disappointing and destroyed all but a small group.
🔸 @jaspervandenham - Van den Ham paints the places our memory goes when it stops being literal and turns into feeling. He’s building landscapes that never quite exist on any map.
🔸@2ndmichelle - Perfect compositions about nothing and everything. The way rain hits a window. The way light grazes a table. These burrowed into our heart at @foireplural and haven’t left.

Wednesday in Tribeca with Professional Practice students from Montclair State. 🍁 So many excellent excellent shows up right now (as the world heaves and lurches along). + lovely gallery owners and minders who were willing to talk to us about viable business models and display methodologies and inventories — the nuts and bolts of actual gallery life. 🙏

Curious to know what I've been looking at this week?

It's a wonderful time of year, because in addition to the millions of gallery exhibitions on view right now, there's also Frieze London, some seriously great museum exhibitions, and a few artist studio visits that I'm excitedly looking forward to.

This week's roundup features a handful of gallery exhibitions I've recently explored. These artists sit at different price points and work in radically different styles, but each exhibits such imagination and creativity through their work.

(1) Mads Bryld Sørensen's oil, pigment, and hareglue on linen paintings are featured in a two-person exhibition, "Altered Horizons," at Haricot Gallery in London.

(2) Wanda Koop is featured in all her glory in a solo exhibition in New York, presented by Arsenal Contemporary and Night Gallery.

(3) Acclaimed sculptor Tom Miles' works are featured in a two-person exhibition, alongside artist Maureen Drdak, in a special presentation by Werring Contemporary in partnership with Philadelphia’s iMOCA

(4) This is the final week to view Michelle Paterok's solo exhibition, "Summer's Edge," at Shrine Gallery in NYC

(5) Laurie Nye's solo exhibition, "This World Only," is not to be missed at Philip Martin Gallery

Anything catch your eye? Curious to know more? Reach out, and we can chat.
