Unfortunately I never have the time or energy to tell the whole story but here's a few things that have occurred to me over the last few weeks... First of all we had a visit from an old mate Anno Wombat, the voice that sounded virtually every free festival in the UK back when she was with Here and Now. The band themselves dropped into Yeovil when I was 17 or 18 and we (The Mob) left with them shortly afterwards.. Their free tours were very much the start of the crowdfunding concept and it has stayed with me ever since.. imagine what we could achieve together!

Earlier today we had a visit from Mark the Welder, who was a major part of Rockaway for many years. It was great to see him. There is an old pic of the Chapel in its very early days with Mark and Tom Cherry (no 500)..

Earlier in the week I was lucky enough to be invited to talk as part of Cardiff music festival by @smarkgubb about the building and running of the project here, alongside Valerie and Scotty from the @309punkproject in Pensecola Florida. We also had the pleasure of meeting Shaun and seeing @the_red_shoes_ poster_archive and scheming ideas we can work on together... More on this as we go forward

There's a load of other new members photos too.. we passed 3700 and are well on our way to 4000 soon.. If you haven't joined already or know someone who might like to join in please get in touch..

There's many other projects connected to the chapel currently underway but they'll have to wait for another post.

The spirit of throwing a few quid in a hat and funding something much bigger still keeps me dreaming and in many ways I have 'Here and Now' to thank for that ❤️

See @croadcore at @pensacolazinefest! Cristy Road Carrera is an illustrator, graphic novelist, and punk musician whose work explores Cuban American identity, feminism, and social justice.

"The Punk-Zine-to-Art-Revolution Pipeline" -- Thurs 10/29, 5-6pm presented by Cristy Road Carrera at Voices of Pensacola

When all outlets of expression felt censored and contrived, zines were a catalyst for self-expression; their power was determined by whoever created one. Cristy Road Carrera is a Cuban American artist and writer whose career began in 1995 when she started a fanzine. Cristy’s work in zines led to illustrated novels, commissioned illustrations, and the Next World Tarot deck. This talk includes a visual slideshow lecture chronicling over 30 years of turning zines into artistic legacy.

"Your Life is a Zine" -- Fri 10/30, 12-1pm presented by Bratty Bre at Voices of Pensacola
Zine artist and online influencer Bratty Bre encourages the audience to place themselves within the zine timeline. Bre will cover the history of zines, their importance in the past, and how to make an impact with your zines in today’s modern age with nothing more than a sheet of paper and your ideas. This talk will emphasize the accessibility of zines and why the format makes zines a great way to express yourself in 2026.

See @martinkendallwong at @pensacolazinefest! Martin Wong will present two special events during HalloZine Fest.

Martin Wong is a writer, editor, and co-founder of the influential Asian pop culture publication 'Giant Robot,' and longtime contributor to Razorcake fanzine.

🔥"A Giant Robot Was Just the Beginning" -- Thurs 10/29, 12-1pm presented by Martin Wong at Voices of Pensacola
In a generation-spanning presentation, Martin Wong will dive into his decades-long involvement in zines – from co-founding the indie, arty, and influential Giant Robot publication in 1994 to documenting the “Save Music in Chinatown” DIY punk project to contributing to Razorcake. Martin will talk about the unplanned places where zine-making has led him, how every age should be a golden age, and what can happen when people grow up with punk and DIY as the norm instead of an alternative to the mainstream.

🔥"Giant Robot" Film Screening + Q&A with Co-Founder Martin Wong -- Fri 10/30, 430pm at The Consulate Bldg at FUMC, 2 E Wright St, in collaboration with HizashiCon @hizashicon @309punkproject

Hopping on a plane to Cardiff, Wales! Excited to join @smarkgubb, @satterwhite.christopher, and @julia_gorton_nowave for Church of Noise!

A HUGE thank you to Mark Gubb for the tremendous amount of work he’s put into organizing this weeklong event, which kicked off today! Looking forward to connecting with everyone and giving a talk on Wednesday with Scott and @rockawaymark!

I’m bringing a little piece of Pensacola with me: 309 Punk Project: An Archive in Motion, a video reel I’ve curated featuring works created by artists from our Artist-in-Residence program. Each work was generously gifted to the 309 archive and is screened with permission of the artist.

Featuring:

Kim Darling @kimdahling
Julia Gorton @julia_gorton_nowave
Talamieka Brice @talamieka
Rainn Forrest & Bea Hurd @appalachian_goth_clown @bea__hurd
Faustine Papelli @apnodi6
Jenny Price
Jimbo Easter @jimbo_easter

Founded in a historic punk house in Pensacola, Florida, @309punkproject is a living archive rooted in DIY culture, collaboration, and experimentation. It’s exciting to bring these artists’ work across the Atlantic and connect our creative communities through the enduring spirit of punk.

Pensacola to Cardiff! Here we go!
