#FRESHMENUPDATE🔴: @WindhoekBeerSA 330ml is back, and to celebrate, 340ml have changed their name to “330ml” ahead of their return to the stage this September. Although this is just for a short while 😛

The band began their story over 20 years ago and took the name from a measurement on a can, so handing it over was never a small thing. We caught up with them ahead of their performance on the 9th of September at Katy’s Palace Bar and asked them 5 questions.

Comment below and tell us how you first heard of 330ml, the band or the beer, tag a friend and you could both win a ticket to watch them live. 🎸🥁

Entries close 7 September 2026. Not for persons under the age of 18.

📌 340ml has introduced 339ml on its Instagram page, explaining that the band was never fully satisfied with its original name and may have made an impulsive choice. The group has not confirmed the permanent name change beyond Instagram, but they are experimenting with this new identity.

UPDATE: 19 August 2026

340ml has kept changing its name on Instagram, moving to 338ml on 18 August and then to 337ml on 19 August. The band initially said 338ml looked "more round and elegant" and might be the final choice, but reversed course a day later, citing NGC 338 as an association it would rather avoid. The group has still not confirmed a permanent name change beyond Instagram, and the steady one-millilitre-per-day decrease suggests the posts may be leading toward an announcement rather than an actual rebrand.

UPDATE: 27 August 2026

340ml’s Instagram countdown has reached 330ml, revealing its connection to Windhoek Beer’s “330ml Is Back” campaign. The band’s temporary name change has been part of the rollout, with 340ml set to perform at Windhoek’s MidWeek Beer Session as the campaign brings back the 330ml bottle.
