POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

on saturday afternoon the gallery hosting our spring group show and storing several other works sustained severe damage due to a fire in the basement. it is with great sadness that we share we’ll be suspending our spring programming for the foreseeable future as we figure out next steps.

we’re heartbroken for our friends amir and asya of @334broome, who lost their beloved space and studios, and feel incredibly grateful to our artists and greater community for all their support.

we’ve set up a gofundme for amir and asya as they begin the long process of rebuilding after losing their studios, supplies, and years of work in the fire. all donations will go directly to amir and asya. any support, whether through donating or sharing, is deeply appreciated. gfm link in bio ♥️

“Anthony Padilla’s richly colored paintings of lush rainforests, flora, tropical fruit, animals, and abstract curvilinear forms illustrate the beauty and elegance of the natural environment.

Characterized by deep blues, verdant greens, and dazzling reds, Padilla’s paintings are inspired by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Henri Rousseau, and pay special attention to color and form. His depictions of full leaves and blooming flowers, such as Casting Shade (2020), resemble the billowing fabric of a skirt or dress and evoke a sense of movement. Some of his paintings, such as Falling Fruit (2020), portray objects in impossible and surreal situations, emphasizing the complexity and mystery of the natural world.
In addition to his paintings, Padilla has completed murals in New York City and Fort Worth, Texas.”

Round 3 shows Mohammad Ali v Joe Frazier fighting for the
Heavyweight Championship Title in 1971 at Madison Square Garden. It was dubbed the Fight of the Century and captured the attention of America. Both fighters were undefeated and represented two sides of a divided society. Ali had been stripped of his title by the boxing authorities for refusing to be drafted into the Vietnam War. He had become an icon of counterculture and of the anti-war movement while Frazier was in support of the war.
The night of the fight a group called The Citizens’ Commission to Investigate the FBI took the opportunity to break into the FBI office in Media, Pennsylvania assuming that agents would be distracted by the match. They successfully burgled over 1,000 documents which they sent out to the press. This exposed to the public the FBI’s COINTELPRO operations under which agents illegally surveilled, disrupted, and infiltrated groups and individuals they considered to be subversive such as the Black Panthers, Communist Party USA, Martin Luther King Jr, United Farm Workers, the KKK, and anti-war organizers. If the FBI did kill MLK, it was through this program. Mohammad Ali himself was named in these documents, targeted for his association with the Nation of Islam and for his vocal opposition to
the war. The program supposedly ended that year.

I’m so excited to announce the exhibition of my new series of ink drawings! Please join me at @334broome Wednesday February 11 from 6-9.

The series is comprised of 10 medium to large size works on paper and a number of smaller studies. Inspired by hanging scrolls from the Northern Song period of China, the series depicts imagined landscapes with billowing clouds, jagged cliffs, and expansive, achromatic skies. Within each work are pugilists from the last century frozen in unending conflict. There will be a zine accompanying the series with images of the work, stories behind some of the boxing matches, and thoughts on the philosophical underpinnings of the series.

Thanks so much to @mr_dr_baby for her support and encouragement while I worked on this and thank you to the amazing friends and artists who came for studio visits.

If you can’t make it to the opening please check @334broome for open hours and feel free to DM us about making an appointment outside of those hours.
Can’t wait to see yall!

Thank you all for coming to our pop-up group show + zine launch Notes On Dawn ❤️ We are so proud of how the show came out, and the incredible turnout for Dove’s face reveal and CRUSH’s renaissance 💞 stay tuned for more to come!

Notes On Dawn
November 21, 2025
334 Broome St

Curated by Sasha Alcocer and Dove Bardin.

See below for the press release text —
CRUSH is pleased to present Notes On Dawn, a zine launch and group exhibition by New York-based artists Dove Bardin, Torrance Hall, Fatime Kabakci, Nico Reano, and Taryn Segal.

Notes on Dawn is based on the experience of artist Dove Bardin as she undergoes recovery from facial feminization surgery (FFS). The zine began on her Instagram story — a platform that served as a social liaison when Bardin was on bedrest in late September 2025. During that time, she began to combine images from her camera roll with text she wrote as she went through the process of transformation, eventually growing the body of work that would become Notes on Dawn. The title references Bardin’s conception of hope as a cyclical promise, always fleeting and returning as her face swelled up and down in healing. It also references the photographs by Nico Reano, where the yellow strobe hits the artist like dawn.

The exhibition expands this project through the lenses of four New York-based photographers: Fatime Kabakci, Taryn Segal, Nico Reano, and Torrance Hall. Each artist extrapolates or documents a different part of the process. Kabakci and Bardin collaborated to create blurred portraits, representing the changing edges of the (trans) feminine form back in June. Reano documented Bardin on her rooftop in the Lower East Side just one week after surgery. Segal documented Dove at the two-week mark as she performed her rituals of recovery and comfort, as well as documenting her first public expeditions at her local park. Finally, Hall created a still life using the staples that held Dove’s head together in the week after surgery.

Together, the zine and exhibition Notes on Dawn tell the story of a life-affirming surgery through the perspectives of five artists.

Recap of the most extraordinary night put on by Dove and I !! Notes On Dawn, a one night affair featuring a profound body of work by five brilliant artists and a beautifully vulnerable and powerful reading by our north star, @dovebardin 💜💞💜 To co-curate a show that celebrates Dove and her life affirming surgery has been my greatest honor.

Only we can flawlessly install a show in a handful of hours, get glammed up, pack the house, sell out a limited edition zine, de-install, and host the afterparty! I love youuu!

Welcome back CRUSH! New York needed this bad ❤️‍🔥@c.r.u.s.h.n.y.c
