Some of the coolest creative journeys start in places you’d never expect.

On this week’s episode, Christian shares how his mom worked as Loretta Lynn’s secretary, meaning he spent a lot of time around her office growing up and even saw Dolly Parton there. Being around Nashville, music, and so many creative people at a young age became part of the foundation for his own creative journey.

And from there, his path has taken some pretty cool turns, from the furniture business to becoming an artist himself.

I love hearing stories like this because you never really know where someone’s creative journey is going to take them.

Christian Calvin, known professionally as 33n, a self-taught Tennessee artist who began painting in his mid-40s and has since taken his work to international exhibitions and long-term installations with Lexus.
Christian’s work blends neo-expressionism, cubism, bold color, and layered texture to explore themes of transformation, love, faith, purpose, and the human experience.

In this episode, we talk about starting something new later in life, finding your creative voice, turning passion into purpose, the role faith plays in his work, and what can happen when you give yourself permission to pursue something you truly love.

Episode 263 is out now.
