Here is a look at the design changes that were made to the @thornleykelham Porsche 356 European SL. We worked to honor the classic 356 shape and to introduce a leaner, more athletic, aggressive proportion. The windshield and a-pillar are leaned back, the crown of the roof is reduced, the shape of the door glass is refined, the quarter windows are eliminated, and a few other ‘quirks’ have been addressed. One of the biggest changes is a widebody treatment that has been achieved by widening the car through the shoulder. This maintains the iconic, clean bodyside from the original 356, while giving the car a more aggressive, road-hugging look. #ragledesign #thornleykelham #thornleykelhameuropean #porsche356 #cardesign

An early profile study for the @thornleykelham Porsche 356 European SL. The design brief called for a reinterpretation of the iconic 356 shape. Respecting the qualities that define the 356: teardrop cabin, clean un-interrupted volumes, and broad shoulders...while introducing a level of drama and refinement not seen on the original cars. In a nod to the original LeMans winning 356’s built in Gmund, the body of the European SL is crafted in aluminum using a combination of traditional coach-building and cutting edge digital design. #ragledesign #thornleykelham #thornleykelhameuropean #porsche356 #automotivedesign
