Apt 23 Moonlight Rose, Forevermore Rd, Co. Dublin, D01 P2M3 is an intimate, joyful account of growing up and growing together. Written in multiple voices it reflects the perspectives of Ploy’s Thai parents, of being Thairish, and the voice of past and future selves. The rice-cooker is at the centre of it all.

Ploypailin Jitphulphon
My name is Ploy. I am an Irish Thai artist based in Dublin. My works revolve around human relationships, dual identity, Buddhist practices, and self-reflection. I enjoy creating projects that are personal and focus on the mundane moments in everyday life. The main subjects of my work are family members and close friends; they are a huge part of my life and have become my muses.

ALSO editions is a Dublin-based publications imprint co-ordinated by Peter Maybury. Four publications from this year are now available from The Library Project (online and on site), Flux (on site), and Cailleach Books (online and at book fairs!).

Join us for the opening night of Auspicious Eight: Wood Snake Edition on Thursday, 23 January from 6pm to 8pm for an exciting exhibition showcasing twelve contemporary artists who celebrate the Lunar New Year. Enjoy an evening of tea, snacks, music, and meet the illustrators, poets, painters, sculptors and photographers behind this enriching artist-led show.

Curated by Jinny Ly, Auspicious Eight began as a celebration of contemporary artists connected to the Lunar New Year, with the simple premise of treating the Lunar New Year as a normalised holiday in Dublin. What if the Lunar New Year were as widely recognised here as St. Patrick’s Day is in other countries? Since its debut in February 2024, the exhibition has evolved into a vibrant community with emerging and established artists supporting one another, transcending the holiday itself.

Opening Night Details:

Date: Thursday, 23 January 2025
Time: 6pm to 8pm
Guest Speaker: Mei Chin
Location: Flux, 4 Chatham Rd, Dublin 2, D02 PA06

The exhibition will run from the 25th to 31st of January (closed Monday the 27th) from 1pm to 5pm. Please share this invitation with friends and fellow art lovers. See you at the opening!

— meet the artist ! 🏮✨ @35mm.ploy

Auspicious Eight started out as a small exhibition but has now grown into a community. So let’s meet our artists — first introducing Ploypailin Jitphulphon.

Ploypailin Jitphulphon, or Ploy, is an Irish-born Thai artist based in Dublin. Having previously contributed to Auspicious Eight in 2024, her work resonates with those who can relate to experiences of immigrant, Third Culture Kid, and identity within the Asian artist community in Dublin.

Ploy is in final year of her BA in Visual Communication at TUDublin and currently seeking postgraduate career opportunities in the art and design industry. She also enjoys writing poetry, documenting the passing of time, and includes her family and friends in the majority of her work.
