We had a successful jump lesson this morning!! 🚀✅

I definitely noticed a major change in Ace’s behavior, he was much more calm and overall present throughout the ride.

Unfortunately, I was not able to get any videos in the moment I was so excited that the ride was going well I completely forgot to ask! ❤️

One of the biggest issues when it comes to jumping that we are experiencing is that I want to hold him back and over control rather than release and let him figure it out.

Ace remains calm when he’s given the opportunity to go on his own but I have a habit of trying to micromanage. Given sometimes his ideas on what we should be doing do not align with mine.😅

I can’t wait till next week, with this being our 3rd jump school here I think we will make great progress. That first photo really exposes the fact that I do not have my inside leg on…oops gotta work on that.✨

Frodo might hate sharing any 50ft radius with a horse in warm up but he lovessss being the center of attention alone in the ring .. 😁💕 with an unfortunate slip/slide into an early fence we had a 20 added to miss the top 5 but so happy with how confident and chill he is feeling . Fall season with a move up planned , here we go! 🍂

The smallest details often make the biggest difference.
We are gearing up for an exciting fall season, but before then, looking ahead to AECs! Stay tuned for upcoming posts on our amazing #TeamCheckers riders heading to Kentucky this month.

First jump school in a few months was a success!🎉

The start of the ride was a bit rocky as Ace was in the process of figuring out what we were asking of him. Thankfully once he understands something he immediately relaxes and doesn’t continue to build.

We ended doing one mini course with 5 jumps and even approached at a canter which is his weaker gait. I can tell all the flat and groundwork we have been doing is starting to pay off!! One of the biggest things was I need to be willing to let him go forward more and reach rather than trying to hold him back and micromanage. Ace is not an easy horse to trust so hopefully this will be better during our next lesson!

Hoping to keep him on a consistent once a week jump schedule and see where things go!🚀

75% tiny demon. 100% keeps me humble. Occasionally chooses violence. Always chooses clear rounds. Angry hobbit is back playing the game and disrupting warm ups 💕

Conquering the staircase!!✨

I had a feeling Cowboy wouldn’t care about the staircase but as I was showing him around the barn I thought it would be fun to go over a few times.

This obstacle is really good for him as he’s not always the most graceful on his feet. Navigating the staircase means he has to pay attention to striding while being coordinated.🐎
