A series of Wet Proofs from some of our publications….Making a beautiful art book starts with finding the right materials - combining paper with complementary printing techniques, in order to bring the book to life. This guessing game can only be really understood by seeing a wet proof.

A wet proof is a traditional printing proof made on the actual press, using the real ink, paper, and printing method that will be used for the final production. It’s called “wet” because the ink is physically printed and still drying — unlike a digital or laser proof. It is the most accurate way to judge how your book will actually look. It also allows us to try out different papers.

I’d love to invite you to my first food performance in an anti-restaurant format combined with a vintage market, taking place on January 29 in a Florentin community space.

For one day, the venue will bring together print designers, vintage shops, and art, alongside a street-style party and a large performative dinner, which guests can register for in advance.

We will temporarily take over the entire building, dividing it into interactive sections:
a market, bar, music areas, and a dedicated kitchen space where food appears as a process and an action rather than traditional restaurant service.

This is an informal, fluid evening:
no seating, no waiters — just movement, music, cocktails, and food you can experience step by step or as a full food journey. LINK IN BIO.

After a long journey, Ruth Patir’s ‘Motherland’ will finally open tonight for audiences at The Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Comprising a series of videos featuring digitally animated Iron Age fertility goddesses, ‘Motherland’ brings together ancient archaeology and advanced imaging technologies to reflect on the complex intersection of gender, motherhood, and the tensions surrounding fertility and reproductive rights in today’s world.

Many people worked hard on this book - including the whole team at Field Day Studio, 3Sisters, the curators Mira Lapidot and Tamar Margalit, Leanna Berkovitch - too many to name here, but thanks to everyone and happy the work will finally be seen.

Tonight ‘Motherland’ by @ruthpatir opens at @telavivmuseumofart! Order your copy here!

As promised, here’s my take on creating ultra-realistic model trees! 🌳✨

This time, the trunks were printed using the super 3d resin printer – the Halot Mage S 14K by @creality3d , and yes, at this resolution, you can even see the bark texture on the model! Huge thanks to @3sisters for providing an additional high-detail trunk design.

For the branches, I used seafoam, a natural dried plant that you can find in @noch_miniature product range under item number 23102. As you can see, the level of detail is incredible, but this method is also more time-consuming and requires a higher budget compared to simpler techniques. However, these trees will be placed at the front of the layout, showcasing their maximum realism.

At the same time, using a 3D printer for trunks eliminates the most tedious and time-consuming process – twisting wire, priming, and texturing – all of that is now unnecessary.

And soon, I’ll show you how to create model pines! Stay tuned! 🌲

We are excited to share the first images of our newest book ‘(M)otherland’ by Ruth Patir, which accompanies her multi-part video installation at the 2024 Venice Biennale of Art. Based on documentary footage of her own experience undergoing fertility preservation treatments, (M)otherland layers the artist’s intimate storytelling with ancient archaeology and advanced image technologies. Laced with candid reflections and biting humor, (M)otherland addresses larger societal issues, such as the politics of gender and the body, and the hidden mechanisms of power.

When Patir was diagnosed as a carrier of the BRCA gene mutation, she began to use her iPhone to document her negotiation between important decisions related to her body, and broader societal pressures around female fertility, contextualized within Israel’s demographic obsession. Patir’s personal odyssey recasts the artist as an ancient “fertility figurine”, a type of female statuette that was widely common in ancient Judea yet one that has mystified archaeologists for centuries.

This book was produced in the months following the terror attacks of October 7 and the devastating Hamas-Israel war. In the depths of horror, Patir refused to open the exhibition until a ceasefire and hostage-release agreement would be reached, and dedicated the book “to all the women who have lost their lives in this vicious war – both Israeli and Palestinian – and to those who were left to pick up the pieces.”

As the exhibition has yet to open, the book makes (M)otherland accessible in a new form, including essays by the co-curators Mira Lapidot and Tamar Margalit, and additional essays by scholars Noam Gal, Keren Goldberg and a conversation between the artist and Eva Illouz. The book was designed by Field Day Studio, edited by Mira Lapidot and Tamar Margalit, and printed at Die Keure. It is available for distribution via Idea Books. Thank you to the entire team who worked on it, including the 3Sisters Studio, Piotr Filatov and Daniel Shamota, Jonathan Wasserman, Field Day Studio led by Zohar Koren and Idan Am-Shalem, Leanna Berkovitch, Daria Kassovsky and Yael Patir, Yuval Katz, Dana Meirson, Omer Tirosh.
