Before I head off for the year, I want to leave you with something special. I recently had the pleasure of working with the incredible team at @thesleepingshaman on a short documentary, and I’d love for you to give it a watch! In it, I share some thoughts why i put all of my energy into @ramsgatemusichall @mother_brain_booking and why grassroots venues matter so much. See if you can spot yourself in all of the gig footage! ❤️

On a more personal note, leaving for a year is harder than I can put into words. Ramsgate Music Hall isn’t just a venue to me.. it’s my home. Everyone inside that building has become my family, and without you all, none of this would mean anything. I am endlessly grateful for your support. This isn't a goodbye, its just a see you later.

Thank you for being the very best. I’ll miss you all more than you know. ❤️✨️

Until we meet again!

Watch in full. Link in bio.

Now on YouTube: the second video in the @3trappedtigers series - Guitar!
.
In this one I talk about effects, pedalboards etc, but also influences, concepts, how parts were written, and the actual playing itself.
.
Thanks to everyone who has tuned in to the Synths video too!

A clip from my Three Trapped Tigers: Synths & Keys video now on YouTube, the first of a series reflecting on the band.
.
This track ‘3’ is from our first EP and is all synths/keys and drums (no guitar). I was trying to get a @sqpusher ‘Big Loada’ vibe with my parts, which were written by playing ideas on the SH101 into Ableton and then further enhancing them with programming/processing for the demo, and then trying to adapt the impossible-to-play results for something I could just about perform live (this was early days in my still-basic keyboard playing!). This got some pretty fun results with all the octave leaps, transpose selector changes, pitch bends and envelope adjustments.
.
I’ve been on a real quest exploring different synths in the last few years but coming back to this reminds me that whilst gear should be inspiring and can do a lot of heavy lifting, expression comes from musical ideas!
.
FX are mostly Ableton Saturator and Reverb (although there is a bit of @busycircuits Almicon on there too - one of my favourite digital reverbs and only $10!).
.
Also just listen to that fucking drumming - @adambettsdrums

What a year 2024 was. Travelled a lot, vanned around Canada, road tripped to Croatia from Calderdale, and explored Dublin. I moved into a new studio. Took a load of samples and wrote a bunch of music. I also spent a lot of the year working on new music for @neotamusic , played a few DJ sets with @summusduo and jumped on the bass to perform with @alinalymusic a fair few times.

1. Exploring the beautiful Lake District in Winter.
2. Saying goodbye to living in a van.
3. Released Neota 'Idled' Music Video.
4. Inspired by Denyse Thomasos work at Vancouver Art Gallery.
5. DJing at the Yard, Manchester, with Summus Duo (@noisia_official Cover)
6. Writing in St Stephen's Green, Dublin.
7.Playing with Alina Ly, at The Deaf Institute, Manchester.
8. Seeing @3trappedtigers on their farewell tour.
9. Driving 12 hours in one day from Germany to Halifax to make it to see The Streets, @mikeskinnerltd .
10. Moved into a new studio space.
