Still smiling from the Black Girl Art Show! 🖤🎨

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth, supported my work, purchased a piece, shared kind words, or simply took the time to connect with me. I met so many incredible artists and art lovers, learned a lot, and genuinely had a beautiful time.

If you see yourself or someone you know in this recap, please tag yourself in the comments so I can connect with you! ✨

Until the next show. Thank you for supporting Jona Monét and the Haus of Monét. 🕊️

Rain outside. Paint inside.

In ancestral traditions, water is a reset — it clears what traveled too far and blesses what’s meant to stay.

I’ll be opening my exhibition tonight in that spirit.

If you feel called, come witness.

I was told a few weeks ago my job is folding.. and at the end of the year.. I’ll have to pivot.. I was afraid. I been in this position on and off 4 years, a very flexible schedule, good pay, wfh and yeah.. I got comfortable

Just when I thought my world was about to shatter, I took the opportunity to enroll in UDC, taking classes on scripting, CSS, HTML, JAVA spring ‘26 ultimately to get some certs and to prepare myself for Python.

From there I was invited to attend DC Start-Up and Tech Week, where I learned the climate of Tech and entrepreneurship in the now. There were panels on everything from Tech and Defense, talks about Intellectual Property, No-Code App building, Pitch Competitions and so much more.

I ran into friends I haven’t seen in over 10 years, I met knew ones and even sold some @40ft.tall to people I wouldn’t ever cross paths in my normal day to day.

Last week gave me the confidence and let me vision a world away from BET+. A reminder not to get too comfortable and to also accept change with open arms. Stop tapping that glass ceiling and go ahead and break through there!

Fresh from the Anacostia River Festival with @Art2Gogo — I painted this piece, “Reeds of Return,” as a nod to ancestral memory and rooted resilience. Bamboo rises. Bamboo remembers. Thank you to everyone who shared space, sun, and spirit today.
