Tomorrow we celebrate the homie surrounded by friends and family the way is should be. The memorial starts about 1 pm and continue through the afternoon into evening at @amorphicbeer .

The family has asked not to bring motorcycles or have anyone messing around with them. We are respecting their wishes but asking you to park on Keefe west of Fratney if you have no other option on means of transportation.

Create will be having an ongoing party/ memorial ourselves with opportunity to hang out, have drinks, share your memories and sign the memorial board we have in the shop.

I met Jack on Memorial Day three years ago. He was only the second person I met in this community of ours that holds my heart and so many friends I deeply adore.

Jack and I are aged 15 years apart. Shortly after we met, Jack would make fun at our age difference and call me mama. The nickname stuck and turned into a bit between the two of us and whoever else was disturbed or amused by it. Our friendship was simple. Jack talked, I listened, and we would show up for one another with all the stoke.

Jack would talk about friends, girlfriends, goals he had and new projects he was working on, some fuck ups and fallouts and lessons he was learning, what he was cooking, where he was going that day and where he ended up along the way, and how he wanted to start tomorrow. Jack would talk, I would listen.

Jack appreciated praise, perspective and honesty. Sometimes he just wanted a little reassurance for what his gut was already telling him. Jack was so clever and resourceful, introspective and thoughtful, ambitious, talented, optimistically outgoing, sweet and silly, wildly creative and kind to everyone always. His enthusiasm was endearing and inspiring, his energy magnetic and unmatched. Jack truly was unlike anyone else.

Jack understood that kindness, compassion and action builds strong communities like ours. I am so proud of our people for checking on one another, offering support, and gathering together so no one has to grieve alone. People are resilient, but life is so fragile. Hug your homies, tell them how much you love them, and don’t stop showing up for one another. That’s what Jack would do.

This is my homie Jack’s bike, a Fyxation East Side, he got from another legendary friend who got it from another legendary friend. A month ago he passed riding (motor)bikes with friends. He meant a lot to the community and met practically every person under 30 who ever gave bikes a thought, while doing something rad and dangerous on this one. Knowing how many of these East Side (RIP) frames got balled up and scrapped, it’s remarkable this one survived, only due to it being one of the earlier run of 4130 frames. This thing has seen some shit, the only thing that’s remained since he got it is the MKE Bicycle Co Bruiser fork and @milly_mob stickers he stole and bombed the frame with. It’s seen a half dozen wheelsets, at least that I know of, each ridden with replacement spokes and hub bearings until the rim or cog threads were smoked and completely unusable. A large group of people all kept it rolling with their time and parts to make sure the younger kid in the group stayed on it. I was only responsible for a year of servicing it and I’ve still had more time on fixing it than any of my other bikes, a lot of them combined. There’s only a couple people I’ve known who shared the same ability to blast a bike to pieces, and they were the people that taught Jack how to rip. As frustrating as it is, my younger brother has grown up watching these folks ride and has developed the same style. I didn’t understood it until I had the years of assembling and reassembling his bikes that they’ve all got a completely different philosophy of riding than I do. Everything is sacrificed for the perfect result, their bodies and their bikes. It’s a beautiful sight to see, committing past where you know you’ll likely damage the wheels and frame that are keeping you upright and moving. We’ve got a lot to learn from these people, these rigs are tools, to be used and abused, pushed to their limits and beyond.

I can’t tag @just__jibberish in the photo but he’s responsible for setting Jack up with this frame, it’s back home with him now. My friend Liam and I still don’t know how our tires ended up on the fuckin thing :)
