18.08.2026 💔🕊️

A warm August day. The day you decided it was time to go.

This isn’t an easy post, and the photos and videos I’m sharing aren’t easy either. But I wanted to share this journey, because it was long, painful, beautiful, and full of love.

In December 2025, my mother suffered an ischemic stroke that paralysed her left side. From that day, I threw myself into her care. We joked, that I was her Head Nurse. I fed her for a month and a half until I pushed her to hold a spoon and eat by herself. We had speech therapy to help her speak again, daily physio to regain movement, and three months of hope that we could eventually return to treating her cancer.

Then came the answer from nine doctors: “sorry, there’s nothing more we can do.”

That was when I had to change my mindset. From trying to make her healthy again, to making whatever time she had left as comfortable, happy, and full of love as possible.

Cancer. Stroke. Pneumonia. Again and again. Hospitals, care homes, doctors, carers, hospice, pharmacies.

Eventually, my brother and I brought Mom home, where she was surrounded by family, carers, friends, doctors, and so much love.

My mom was a warrior. She loved life and fiercely loved her independence. But her world changed, and we became one team.

And somewhere along this journey, I learned my mother in a way I never had before. I learned what made her happy, what annoyed her, what she liked, what she hated, what she wanted, and what she needed without always having to ask. I knew her.

Her passing wasn’t a shock. We knew it was coming.

But it still stings like a bitch.

Her last words before she went unconscious were: “Thank you for everything.”

And in that moment, I knew I had done everything I could.

I couldn’t save her. But I could make sure she was loved, cared for, and never alone.

Mom, I will learn how to live this life without you, but give me signs from above that I am on the right path, please be my guardian angel.

If your parents are still here, call them. Tell them you love them. Be there for them.

All you have is now 🪽

Пока мое солнышко, я тебя очень люблю!
