Have you seen what’s taking shape at Civic Center Park?

Well, we sent @ashtonsellsco behind the construction fencing with @denverparksrec and @ghphipps to get a closer look at the progress being made on one of downtown Denver’s most recognizable public spaces.

Crews are carefully protecting the park’s historic architecture, monuments, artwork, and mature trees while making some of the biggest changes to the nearly 100-year-old Greek Theatre.

The performance space is being completely reconfigured with a new north-facing stage, a large architectural canopy, and specially designed concrete walls that will help improve acoustics. Materials from the previous theatre layout are also being repurposed and incorporated into the new design.

But the changes go well beyond the theatre.

New pedestrian pathways, a central promenade, and redesigned gathering spaces will improve accessibility throughout the park while creating better connections between the Golden Triangle and downtown Denver.

The renovation will also introduce a new memorial honoring the Gang of 19, a group of disability-rights activists whose 1978 demonstrations in Denver helped advance the national movement for accessible public transportation.

Led by Denver Parks & Recreation, the $50 million transformation will create new opportunities for concerts, community events, and everyday activities throughout the park.

Construction is expected to continue through 2027, with a grand opening anticipated in 2028.

Another one of Elyria-Swansea’s undeveloped sites is finally under construction in RiNo.

Construction is underway on AVE Station House, a new 13-story development that will bring 301 apartments, more than 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and approximately 18,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities to a triangular parcel near the 38th & Blake Station.

The site has sat vacant for years despite being surrounded by some of the neighborhood’s most significant development activity. Previous plans for the property included office and hotel uses before the project ultimately shifted toward a residential-focused vision following changes in market conditions.

Once complete, the development will include studio through three-bedroom apartments, structured parking, EV charging infrastructure, coworking space, wellness amenities, a rooftop pool, golf simulator, and approximately 10% affordable housing.

Construction is expected to continue through late 2028.

A new King Soopers has officially opened its doors.

Today, King Soopers celebrated the grand opening of its new Store No. 150 at 4201 E. Arkansas Avenue, replacing the longtime Belcaro location and bringing a new 103,000-square-foot grocery store to the area.

Built on the former Colorado Department of Transportation headquarters site, the project represents a more than $37 million investment and includes expanded grocery departments, a pharmacy with drive-thru service, grocery pickup stalls, and additional customer amenities.

The opening comes one day after the closure of the former Belcaro King Soopers, which had served the surrounding community for decades.
