I was honored to win this George Brett rookie in a giveaway from @chrisfrommissouri during a special episode of Showcase Showdown with Chris and @baseballcollectormike for @4collectors4c Hobbypalooza a few weekends ago. They raised money for @signaturesforsoldiers - a great cause. Thanks again, Chris!

This card was not on my radar or even close until last years Hobbypalooza when it was put up in silent auction for the charity Signatures for Soldiers. I was instantly drawn to image and the baby blue background and also the opportunity to add a card and be charitable at the same time.

I checked the comps and offered 50% over. My bid was the highest and the card was delivered to me at the 2025 National.

I have considered upgrading the card but thus far I’ve decided to keep this one as my long term copy because the story balances out the flaws.

Shoutout @4collectors4c for the Hobbypalooza initiative.

Attending the Strongsville show was just different. It honestly felt like stepping back into another era, a glimpse of what the card scene in the 80s must have been like. 👀 There were no flashy overproduced cards competing for attention just rows of tables filled with simple and classic cardboard. 🙌

This show was all about the roots of the hobby…collectors talking shop, digging through boxes, and appreciating the history behind each piece. 🔥 The whole experience carried a sense of pure nostalgia and a reminder that the ❤️ of collecting isn’t about gimmicks, but about connection, memories, and above all some truly killer cardboard.

Here we go, my top 25 PC pickups in 2025. As usual, I found a way to squeeze in more than 25 cards, 38 this year in 25 slots on 20 slides!

My list this year is split quite evenly between vintage and modern. Something I noticed through putting list list together is that I am favoring vintage these days. I do still love my modern but the history of the cards and the survival rates of vintage vs modern is something that I find quite alluring.

So while low-grade, high eye appeal vintage along with game-used mem and on-card autographs dominate my top 25, I did pick up some inserts and parallels this year too.

I also started a new sub-PC in just the last couple months. Pacific game-used mem cards spanning four hockey card seasons from 2000 to 2003. I’d never chased these before but after acquiring some in a collection purchase I couldn’t stop looking at them and decided to get high on my own supply and since then I’ve grabbed a bunch more. Just another layer of enjoyment for my lifelong collecting journey.

Putting this years list in order was challenging and it could change for me on any given day but the number one card is a definite lock.

If you have a fave or anything surprised you from my list, let me know below👇

Happy new year everyone! Be safe tomorrow night and we’ll see you next year!
