Summer break is OVER. The Sorors are BACK. We’re ready to RISE! 🏆

Our Rise up: Championing Sisterhood Through Service Chapter Retreat brought us back together to reconnect, refocus, and prepare for what’s ahead.

We reflected on our WHY, brainstormed how we can make an even greater impact throughout Lexington, and recommitted ourselves to the work that has always been at the heart of our sisterhood, Service to All Mankind. 💕💚

Refreshed. Recommitted. Ready to serve. Champion Sisters, it’s time to RISE! ✨

Summer break is officially over, and BGO is standing on business! Our 2024 Chapter Retreat was held this Sunday, and we’re beyond excited to soar to new levels post-Boulé.

We kicked off the day with an amazing breakfast and lunch together, followed by spirited remarks from our Sister Stashia Emanuel. Our First Vice President, Catreece Madison, discussed our chapter programs and the way forward as we continue to make an impact in our community.

A special shout-out goes to Sister Lawyna Holland Parish, our Standards Chairman, who played a crucial role in organizing this incredible retreat. Our Cluster VI Coordinator, Sister Martina Martin, updated us on the state of the cluster and how we can prepare to assist.

We were honored to have Sister Veronica Stacker, Central Region Representative to the International Finance Committee, present an insightful session on financial reports and procedures, sparking lively discussion. Sister Veda Stewart, our Chapter Chaplain, led us in a grounding meditation, encouraging us to take all our problems and needs to the well.

Sister Kim Ross Brown got us on our feet with an engaging Sisterly Relations game, fostering problem-solving and camaraderie. We also received an inspiring President’s Report from our Chapter President, Samanatha Anderson, who shared her unique insights as a member of the International Graduate Advisor Certification Committee. Closing us out was Central Region’s own Nichole Wilson, our International Nominating Committee Chairman, who made parliamentary procedure fun, accessible, and engaging.

It was a day filled with hugs, laughter, and excitement as we reunited and recharged for the year ahead. A huge thank you to all our esteemed guests and our dedicated chapter sisters who came out on Saturday. We are ready to start strong this fall and continue the impactful work of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, serving the greater Lexington area.
