living in a home with a designated library has allowed me to properly display all of the books i have collected over the years. ironically enough, with all my picture making, horse riding, & road trippin’, i don’t spend nearly as much time unraveling inside the world inside of the books. they’ve been straight up collecting dust.

this turned into an interesting opportunity to treat my coffee table, a furniture item typically used solely for display & peacocking purposes, like a rotating library of recent literary pickups, gifted books, and items that ground me whenever i return home from a long stretch of travel or a long weekend at the rodeo. i pick a book to read from there and nowhere else to limit my decision fatigue.

i personally spend almost too much time reading non-fiction texts about the history of the arts & of this country. it’s got a nigga stressed out and rather unmotivated to pick up a book cause i’m accustomed to learning about some depressing shit. i’ve turned to essay books, afrofuturist texts, graphic novels, and photo books to help restore my curiosity and love of my vivid imagination.

the books shown here were either gifts from the authors themselves or copped at @reparations.club …duh! another day closer to finishing all the books at the crib!

Built around the idea of children’s play rooms. The space featured creations by a myriad of friends and sentimental objects from our personal homes. A room designed for reflection, conversation, and discovery aka childlike play. Education without being preachy.

Afternoon Light Fair, New York Design Week, captured on Manual’s Holo Digital Camera.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth and showed love throughout the week. We were excited to preview the Feels Like Home Volume 3 prototype alongside the Goodesign Root Shelving System.

Special thanks to Hira Farooq and 4four, Important Nobodies and David Minor, Ramshah Kanwal, Vessel Design Studio, Tam Chokevikraikij and Brainwaxx, Zabu, Mobile Kitchen Sound, and Saji for his DJ set, all of whom helped bring the space to life.
