Feels good to get the finish at this year's Baja 1000! @go_shane_go and myself started and took it to RM 450ish. Then Earl and Brandon @rss_motorsports took it in for the finish. Between the race and pre-running, lots more stories to tell. What an adventure. Huge thanks to Link, FK and Shane @speedshark.racing for dragging me along!

First time racing a car at Vegas to Reno instead of a dirtbike—and damn, what an experience. I’ve been on the high end of results at this race before on two wheels, but this year was all about helping my dad chase his dream of racing with his kids. He got it—and I’m glad he got to drive the car.

Right off the bat we knew we were in for a treat—having to pass Toyota Tacomas, a Ford Raptor (which was sick), and plenty of other oddball vehicles. We found our way though. Troy did a great job for his first time ever in the car, jumping out after our second belt and first axle. Sam jumped in after and did a fantastic job navigating for me—I just wish we could’ve pushed the car harder to match his navigation skills.

I also knew it was gonna be a long day when I couldn’t push the car over 30% without the rear end stepping out or the belt temp spiking way too quick. Problems I’ve never had in my own car, so it threw me off right from the start.

We started dead last, which made the whole thing even wilder, but honestly, I’m glad we did. Between the silk beds I’ve never seen before, the new learning curve in a car, and the chaos of desert racing, I walked away hooked. With the right setup and a little more comfort, I know I could get competitive in these “go karts.”

Throwing a big thank you to all my uncles that were there—Uncle Don, Dennis, Steve, Scott, Jobo, the entire Capt family, Uncle Jefe—plus my mom and dad for making this possible. And Troy for growing a pair and getting in the car! Haha.

Already itching to get back behind the wheel and see if I can’t push a little harder next time. After chasing belts, snapping 3 axles, and finally the steering breaking… safe to say, we tried and we definitely have issues with this car, I think I’ll stick to my Can-Am . 😅🏁
