Fam,

Some days are harder than others. ❤️‍🩹

But if you keep showing up… keep doing the work… even if it’s just a little bit at a time, eventually you start to see just how strong you’ve become.

I’ll be 46 in two months, y’all. And I remember a time when I didn’t think I’d live this long.

Truthfully… I didn’t even want to.

I had lost so much. My family. My friends. My heart. My sense of who I was. And every day felt like waking up to the same damn Groundhog Day, wondering what the point was.

Somewhere along the way, I decided I’d just try to do a little bit of good every day.

Not fix the world.
Not save everybody.
Just… do one good thing.

And somehow, little by little, doing the work in the good gave me something back.

I started wanting to do more.
I started getting stronger.
I started looking forward to one more day—not because life suddenly became easy, but because maybe I could make someone else’s day a little lighter.

Maybe spark a little joy where there wasn’t much.

And honestly… that’s what 4Goodness has always been about for me.

Creating little moments of good. Bringing people together. Showing up for our community. Reminding someone that they matter, even if it’s just for a few hours, a backpack, a haircut, a meal, a hug, a smile, or a damn good party. 🫶

So to every single one of you who pours your time, money, talent, energy, love, resources, businesses, friendships and BIG hearts into these crazy little community things I curate and dream up…

Thank you.

You may think you’re just donating a backpack.
Just sponsoring a thing.
Just volunteering.
Just sharing a post.
Just showing up.

But sometimes just showing up is exactly what saves the day.

Y’all are the blessings behind the blessings.

And on the days when I forget how far I’ve come, you remind me.

So keep showing up.
Keep doing a little good.
Keep choosing joy
Keep choosing each other.

Even when it’s hard.

Especially then. ❤️

Hey it’s yo girl 4Goodness! 👋
So…
My mother was from Ecuador.
My father from Japan.
I was born in Texas and raised in motion—between borders, kitchens, classrooms, and hiding places when the world wasn’t safe.

I watched my parents get deported.
I learned to survive early.

What saved me were strangers who didn’t ask questions—
Chinese Mexican Korean Thai communities who fed me, held me, made space for me to exist and taught me how to celebrate and spark joy…
Artists, aunties, pantries, neighbors.
Love without paperwork.

When I questioned myself, and wonder if it’s the right thing to do, to find or make joy in such a tumultuous time, I was reminded by a best friend:
all we can do— all we’ve ever done— is bring joy.
There is no agenda. No hate.
There is only love. Everything else is noise.

I’ve known violence. I’ve known loneliness.
So now I choose goodness wherever I can, with whatever I have.
For all of us.
For all of you.
With all my heart.

Come celebrate.
The you, the me, the we.
Let’s shake the bad away—if only for a day.

February 28 • 3–9pm
Let’s eat, dance, and welcome the New Year together.

So we had a couple goodies that @whiterabbit.studios @makeup_hustler with Nordstrom La Cantera cosmetics and @acescreengraphics wanted us to have to show a little love for our amazing vendors and we wanted to show appreciation to every single one of you for your hard work and also wanted to recognize a few that our volunteers recognized as exceptional and those vendors were @dulcesbydreuh @dgu_customs and our newest maker @scorpiusjewelry for their amazing efforts and extra work #bts
We are still very grateful and proud of all that we all accomplished and couldn’t do it without you all! ❤️🎉❤️🎉

We have a couple things in the works so stay tuned for the next event 🎉🎉🎉

With love and light

@j3n_413 and @dulcesuenos_coffee is so much more than your typical coffee spot…it’s a meeting spot, a hub for entrepreneurs and independents and neighbors to connect and work and chill…it’s a home for the neighborhood! Thanks for holding space for so many of us creatives and kinda crazies! You are so appreciated 👏👏👏

Working on lunar things with @satx_886_taco ❤️❤️❤️ is always better with coffee ☕️😉

We’ve had such a blessing in the madness of an overwhelming response of applications/dms/texts/emails/stops in the grocery store…we’re so so grateful for the interest and support and love! We had 150 spots and 2 blocks to fill and you guys made this happen and now we have the real work cut out for us! We hope you will come celebrate and support your vendors who are working hard to ramp up inventory for the celebration Feb 3rd! They are the reason any of this is possible and we are so honored to serve you all with a celebration like this! Thank you so very much from all of us we will be working hard to bring you the best block party yet!

Please stay tuned for some more details this weekend!

Hey guys it’s us, Erica and Izzy @4goodness_sa
Thought it was time to introduce your dynamic duo for lunar new year setsubun bodega block party planning! So…
We work full time, have our families to keep up with and each other to make this dream come true!
We both came to embrace our Asian heritage and our passion for the universal language of food and cooking! Our friendship came to be when we met at a comic con volunteering cuz our second love was serving our art community…it wasn’t until we shared our stories of restaurant life, night market adventures in Taiwan and Japan and all over Asia that we felt the most proud of our love of the popup…so we started to realize that our ability to share what little goodness we had was pretty f’ing dope and together we made a promise to work hard to serve our allies, our makers, creators, chefs, and curators in holding space for them and us! And that’s what the #bodegafam has been built up on! We work tirelessly to learn how to make this the best block party anyone has ever seen and it’s all thanks to you all!
The family we have all but lost; we found in all of you and we are so honored to share a celebration with our Asian community and the city we love!
If you’ve read this far we hope you will like-share-tag-save and come party with us for this celebration of ringing in the new season of the year! Setsubun Lunar New Year of the dragon 2024! @jeffersonbodega STYLE of course!
