I grew up playing basketball, and I thought that was all I needed to feel fulfilled. I was raised in a Muslim household and prayed when I was told to, but I never took the initiative to understand what I was actually doing. Years went by, and I started finding success in basketball, so I picked up football in middle school. I was terrible at first. I took that personally, so I gave football everything I had and eventually found success there too. Then injuries sent things downhill, and I was lost. I didn’t know who I was, but I knew football could no longer be my god.

I left my heart open for whatever was in store, and soon enough I encountered the Lord at my first Mass, without even understanding what Mass was. I eventually began OCIA, and the spiritual warfare started. The D1 offers I had prayed for began rolling in, but it wasn’t how I imagined it would be. I asked myself why I was being put through this and realized I was being drawn toward a greater peace, simply through being. After everything I had given to football, I thought reaching my goal would feel a lot better than it did. I ignored that thought for a while and kept doing what I’d done my whole life: play football, telling myself I’d finally feel fulfilled once I got to college and started living out my dream.

I was baptized and confirmed my junior year. I was now Catholic. I understood the title, but I was still searching for how to actually live it out. I had a great senior year on the field, and the light of the Lord began casting a shadow over football. I ended up playing for my hometown Ohio State Buckeyes, and I realized my dream, as amazing as it was, wasn’t the fulfillment I was made for. I decided to follow the Lord instead, not knowing where I’d be led. I surrendered football. I got involved at our Newman Center, joined a @focuscatholic Bible study, attended SEEK, led a FOCUS Bible study, and went to Fan Into Flame. My faith kept growing.

the same spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead came alive in me this summer.
this spirit lives in each one of you too, we are sent out to live as disciples and be instruments of miracles. thank you damascus for providing a way for me to serve and open my heart to the holy spirit. i am forever changed❤️‍🔥

Went on mission, it was pretty cool ig. God is the GREATEST, to be able to serve and see the change Jesus made it lives is beyond a gift. Through the highs and lows Jesus will always prevail. #blessed

But seriously, thank You Jesus for the ways that you’ve worked this summer. I’ve never been so tired, stretched, and yet loved and appreciated in a span of time like this. I’m so blessed to meet everyone I did and to run this race with the brothers that I have. This summer has truly changed my life.

The Lord healed so many parts of my life because of His goodness and the love each of these people showed me. Each of you will always hold a special place in my heart.

For Christ, The Man From Heaven, From Death Has Set Us Free, And We Through Him Are Given, The Final Victory

This summer, God took my heart and utterly slashed it open, filling it with his overwhelming love and devotion. God is real. His name is Jesus Christ, and Oh how He loves us. We are His beloved, and He never stops pursuing us. No matter how unworthy we feel, no matter the wrong we’ve done, or how far we wander, nothing can separate us from the love found in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I’m Proud to be the King’s servant. Proud to be a missionary. Proud to lay down my life so that something greater than me can grow. Proud to follow in the footsteps of the amazing men and women before me. Greater Love hath no one than this, that a man shall lay down his life for one’s friends. - JOHN 15:13

To my fellow Missionaries: I have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude for you. Know that you will always be in my prayers. Thank you for your yes, your sacrifice, and running the race so well.

This summer God broke my heart open, rebuilding me as a stronger son of God who finds his identity only in Christ. Through great surrender and putting Jesus at the center of it all, I found the love my heart had been aching for.

He showed me what it truly means to empty myself: laying down my ego, my doubts, and my fears at the altar so He could fill those empty spaces with His love. For the first time, I am grounded in who I am as His son, completely free from the need to prove myself. The praise of others isn’t what satisfies me; only the love of God ever will. The Lord has set me free.

He didn’t just heal my heart this summer; He gave me a burning passion to seek out the brokenhearted. I came to realize that it was never about me, but about these kids who deeply need Jesus. They simply needed someone to love them and show them that God loves them and longs for a relationship with them.

To my campers: I believe in you, and more importantly, God believes in you.

To my fellow missionaries: what a joy it was to serve alongside you all. Thank you for loving me, and thank you for being so easy to love.

I can’t even express in words how grateful I am for this summer. I learned how to pray. How to listen to God. How to be a friend. How to survive off of no sleep. How to put Jesus at the center of my life. How to worship. And most importantly, how to be the face of Jesus to over 5,000 campers.

The devil seeks to destroy the children of God. It is not a light matter but rather a matter of Life or death, whether or not these children will spend the eternity with Jesus or not. It matters what we say and do for other people. Jesus has no face but ours, no words but ours, and through us he spreads his Love.

Thank you Jesus for this amazing summer, and thank you to all the missionaries that walked with me!
