POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I saw a small exhibition the other day organised by @4one4two - 'Ten Important Books'. It's literally lists of people's ten important books. It's great. I spent ages looking at it. Check out their website for the rationale - I'm not going to rehash it here.

Inspired by this, and because I am totally nostalgic for Facebook circa 2008 when it was just putting up lists of what you were into - here are my ten important books.

- Concrete Island – J.G. Ballard
- Day of The Triffids – John Wyndham
- The Peregrine – J.A Baker
- A Land – Jaquetta Hawkes
- The Wall – Marlen Haushofer
- The Story of The Apple – Barry Juniper
- An Indifference of Birds – Richard Smyth
- Red Shift – Alan Garner
- The Living Stones – Ithell Colquhoun
- Boule de Suif – Guy de Maupassant

Join us for the launch of a new publication, Saturday 10th May, 13:30-15:00.

Produced on the occasion of their exhibition, the book includes a dialogue between @christopherpgreen and @charlie.duck as well as a text by @danhowardbirt and @nina.royle edited by @4one4two

The event will include an in-conversation with the artists and @lywardian. The event is free to attend with the book available for £6.

We hope you can join us. I’d recommend grabbing a coffee from @roundhouse_pz before popping in, and then down to @theend.artistbookfair at The Exchange @newlynexchange and @toner.pz for more bookish goodness.

Gallery open Friday & Saturday 10:00-16:00

15,000 books.. and now including the most recent 6 titles from 41/42.

“Situated in a domestic context - the same building in which we live - we view 41/42 as a cottage industry with an international range.” Christopher P. Green & Melanie SJ Francis

We’re therefore thrilled that these publications which we made in Cornwall (made possible in part by EU funding via @cultivatorcornwall) are now available across the Atlantic ocean at Printed Matter in New York City.

In light of the current global situation relating to COVID-19 we've had to postpone any publicly engaged activity here in Cornwall for the foreseeable future. L.I.E is a not-for-profit organisation, and does not currently receive public funding. This reality means that it's now harder than ever to present and grow the collection of books, and also develop future projects.
We thank everyone who has contributed to the project, and wish everyone well during this trying time. Take care, and we look forward to welcoming you to L.I.E in its new West Cornwall home when we can. #artincornwall #books #independentpublishing #artistbooks #libraryofindependentexchange
